Thanks for having us to stay at your wonderful cabins. It was great to meet you and hear about the amazing work you are doing for conservation in the area. I’m sure you’ll be happy to hear we were lucky enough to see a bittern in the morning - one of the highlights of our trip!
Dougal and Denise were very friendly and accommodating, provided lots of valuable information about the area. The cabins are well equipped for self-catering. Will recommend a visit to this lovely cabin and beautiful area. They have plenty of tame farm animals and Tommy the friendly terrier.
Really enjoyed our stay while biking the Rimutaka cycle trail. Nice to only have to carry clothes and food rather than camping gear as well. Loved the panoramic lookout points on the property as well as the pond which meant lots of birdlife around. Would definitely recommend to others.
The property is lovely - a bedroom, full kitchen and shower. We enjoyed looking out over the Aorangi Range in the evening and watching the lambs play in the paddock next door. We were coming through on the Remutaka Cycle Trail and got a flat tire and couldn't get the pump to work - Dougal (and Tom the friendly dog) dropped what they were doing and picked us up in the ute from 20km down the road, then setup the farm compressor to help us reinflate and get back on the road. We sprung for the food option, and we were very glad we did: it was extremely nice having a hearty dinner, much appreciated after a day of eating trail mix. Snacks and breakfast provided too. Thanks very much for hosting us (and rescuing us), we had a really nice time.
Clean, rustic, local, just what we were looking for!
