Beautiful cottage in stunning surroundings
This lovely cottage is in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland. The colours of the autumn foliage were amazing, so rich in shades of yellow, gold, orange and deep chestnut browns.

The Perfect Get Away
A lovely cottage which has seclusion, peace and quiet, a glorious location. Loch Rannoch is yards away and there are woodland walks from the door and plenty of wildlife to be seen all around. Lots of space for children and dogs.

Stay in April 2022
This is a lovely cottages with a very nice private and secure garden surrounding all sides of the which was perfect for our dog. There were forestry walks available straight from the house and the lake was at the end of the long driveway leading up to the house. However, as we have teenagers they weren't always satisfied with peace and tranquillity but the nearest town was Pitlochry. If you are looking for peace, quiet, nature and walks then I would fully recommend this as a place to stay.

About the host

We are a married couple, who live in Aberdeenshire. We bought this cottage as our own holiday home 20 years ago and love the area ourselves so we are confident our guests will enjoy their stay. We have been hosting guests for 20 years now so are experienced in holiday lettings and aim to provide a friendly service and a high standard of accommodation. We have spent a lot of time and effort doing up this cottage, which has just been completed renovated and modernised in 2023. We have two dogs, several chickens and enjoy walking, golf, ceramics, cycling, travelling & skiing.

Why they chose this property

Probably best articulated by some of our guest feedback;

A little piece of heaven.
"The cottage is so cute and cosy with a great sun room for relaxing as a family! We were so lucky with the weather (high 20s) so the garden was perfect for eating out and generally lazing around. We had a 17month old with us who loved the outdoor space for running around!
We got to meet some gorgeous pine martins who live in the loft (mum and baby) which was exciting to see up close!
The location is literally a 2 minute walk onto the loch and lovely walks in the forests out the back of the house!
Dawn and Hans are amazing hosts - always on hand when there are any issues - I can’t rate them enough!!!
This was literally a little piece of heaven - our only regret was that we weren’t there longer!!"

Peaceful Paradise.
"Beautifully appointed accommodation surrounded by stunning scenery. Lovely walks from the door. Everything you could possibly need. Peaceful, cosy. Just bliss."

Fantastic pet-friendly highland retreat.
"Great location, immaculately maintained cottage and garden. The cottage was well stocked with everything required for a perfect stay and the garden large enough for the dogs to explore and have a run around."

The ultimate comfortable country cottage.
"This is a very well maintained cottage which we have now visited several times. The area is delightful and it is wonderful to return to the cottage after walking or touring.Very well equipped for food storage and cooking."

An unforgettable experience in the Scottish Highlands.
"Everything about our weekend stay at West Carie Cottage exceeded our high expectations from the quality of accommodation to the spectacular views across the loch. Everything was there that we could have expected and more. So many character touches including pictures of stags on cushions and hand made lamps from tree stumps."

What makes this property unique

The perfect place to get away from it all and recharge the batteries.

Very well appointed cottage set in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The cottage is comfortable for you to relax inside or in the enclosed private garden.

Alternatively you can walk or cycle all day long in any one of the many local paths through beautiful forests.

And of course you can make any number of day trips to the local towns of Pitlochry & Aberfeldy or slightly further afield to Inverness, Perth, Edinburgh etc.

The train station at Rannoch provides easy access south to all stations leading to Glasgow (and even London!) whilst heading north takes you to Fort William and Mallaig via the Glenfinnan viaduct, made famous by the Harry Potter films.
