About this property

This property is situated on the edge of Majorda village, midst rice fields & coconut trees.
A compound wall & gate keeps the area safe and private in which the studios and the main house have complete privacy.
Gardens surround the main house and studio , with ample place to find your own space.
A large shared veranda overlooks the pool, garden and fields ,A place to have breakfast or afternoon tea and just to chat with everyone
Find a good book from the bookcase on the veranda , a good variety of books in various languages.
The 3 Studios are fully furnished and all utensils are provided.
The interior ceilings are high,keeping it cool ,but all have fan and A/C.
The bathrooms are spacious too with an open shower area(wet room) ,a tiled seating platform..
Solar power provides all day hot water

The pool area has a BBQ, ,offered on request ,a sumptuous BBQ by Norris.
Sun loungers and table & chairs , and is elevated from the field so one has a wonderful unobstructed view of nature.
A relaxing place to watch the buffaloes graze,and in the monsoon a marvelous scene of fresh green paddy.

It's also a tranquil space to work from your laptop, wi-fi is available ( Dongle ) if you are a traveling business person.

A place for Yoga, We offer ,Hatha Yoga , Upa Yoga , Iyenger Yoga , Mediation , & Classical Indian Dance Classes.
Ayurveda Treatments , Alternate Healing in Traditional Methods, such as:
Reiki ( USUI Method) , Acupressure , reflexology
Iyengar Yoga classes are available .& meditation ,

Lounging by the pool with a good book,writing a novel, or enjoy doing nothing !
If you are artistic we are able to offer art classes with a local artist.
We have a wonderful dentist too in the village ,who has an extremely good reputation with overseas clients,so you could combine your holiday with dentistry. I will contact Dr.Liza. and put you in touch with her so you would have a time period.

Majorda is close to the beach ,which is not too busy ,and life guards patrol daily.
Here you 'll find beach shacks where you can relax on the sunbeds under the shade of a coconut leafed umbrella.This starts around mid November .
The beaches continue for many kilometers, Cycling and walking early morning or evening is a wonderful way to keep fit,also another great place for walks or cycling is along the windy quiet village roads close to our property.

Transportation : Scooter and car hire can easily be arranged.
We hire cycles and a scooter from our home .
We will pick up and drop off at the airport ,railway station and bus depot (Margao )
Buses go frequently to all villages & cities from the end of the main road. Highway N17 is a few minutes away ,leading to Panjim, 45 minutes, & Dabolim Airport 20 minutes drive.

The surrounding villages have local arts & crafts shops and plenty of restaurants.to choose from.

i was the only guest while I was there for 44 days. It was 3.5 killometers out of town in a remote housing development. It was hard to get to or you had to get a taxi. Unless you spoke Hindu it was near impossible to find one. Or you had to depend on the owners.

Beautiful location

Clean,well thought out in terms of light self catering. Beautiful garden and field behind full of wildlife make this a very good choice for a peaceful retreat. Beaches are nearby so with taxi service from hosts everything is accessible. Yvonne and Norris are attentive without being intrusive and both are very caring. Highly recommend.

Beautiful location, superb hospitality, the ultimate chill.

We stayed at Fernlodge as a relaxing week at the end of our holiday in India. Yvonne and Norris were excellent hosts and their homestay was first class in all respects. Communication was excellent throughout. The photographs do not really do the property justice. The three studios are located in a separate building just across from the family home. All the studios are very similar to one another, with a comfortable bed, good AC and fan, filtered water, fridge, well equipped kitchen area and large shower room/wc with constant hot water. A long verandah with comfortable seating fronts the studios and there are washing/drying facilities to the rear. Wifi is enabled through a dongle. The grounds, garden and swimming pool area are beautiful and well tended by Norris. Yvonne has her own yoga studio and she made us very welcome as Yoga 'first timers'. A very relaxing and enjoyable experience. The whole ambiance of Fernlodge is one of calm and tranquility. The sunset views across the paddy fields, with the local farmers and their oxen returning home, were truly memorable. Norris and Yvonne are always available to help with your transport needs (additional, but reasonable, cost) plus ferrying to/from the airport/station. There are lots of good local restaurants at reasonable cost or Norris, who is an excellent chef, will happily cook for you. We really enjoyed sharing a family meal with Yvonne, Norris and Anya - thanks for the chocolate brownies Anya! We enjoyed a daily walk (lift available if needed) down to Majorda beach, which was absolutely stunning, where we were very well looked after at Vanya's shack. The beach was very quiet during the week, being a little busier with locals at weekends. We saw plenty of colourful bird life during our stay, together with other wildlife- we are both keen naturalists. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fernlodge and were made to feel very welcome by the family, who are excellent hosts. We have no hesitation in recommending Fernlodge to others. A serene and tranquil environment - the perfect place to relax. Many thanks to Yvonne, Norris and Anya.

Lovely Stay

We had a lovely stay, with the accommodation and amenities being excellent. Yvonne and Norris looked after our every need, and made everything easy. Yvonne and Norris make you so welcome.

They regard their mission is to make your stay as comfortable as possible. This includes giving you a lift to the supermaket on first arrival to providing yo with a local phone for you to contact them if you wish to whilst out. The garden and pool are kept to an excellent standard and are just beautiful. If you don't have Norris's goan chicken curry you have missed a trick. Wonderful Yoga by the pool in the morning was so relaxing thank you

Born in Yorkshire, England I set off to travel the globe. On my way I met my husband Noris in Bermuda, where we lived for 11 years and have 1 daughter. I always had a love for India and had many trips to different parts. Our dream was to have a guest house in Goa, my husband's home land. In 2008 we bought our house and in 2009 began building our guest house.

Within this tranquil space we find the peace from the chaos of the "outside world" we live in at present .It's as if we're living at the speed of light ,and a pace determined by machines,here we live at the speed of life .
I like to do yoga ,and health is always a priority for me .my family and guests ,so I'm always helping by introducing Yoga and Ayurveda.
We now offer Yoga classes in the morning by the pool

The view all around is wonderful, lush gardens, coconut trees, which we pluck and make oil, the rice fields and watch the variety of birds and the eagles soar above. We take morning walks at Majorda Beach then have tea at one of the beach shacks and relax in their lounge chairs. We are in the midst of nature, but within minutes we go to the city, the beach and the airport. We love it and want our guests to love it too.

Why they chose this property

Noris ,my husband, and his family are from Velim about 45 minutes drive from Majorda, but it seemed remote from modern amenities and school. Whilst on holiday in 2007, we stayed at a guest house in Majorda, we were away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but close enough to access everything with ease, airport, trains, beaches, shops, restaurants and school all within minutes reach by motorcycle. The property fell into our hands by chance, 3 days before heading back home. It was what we had been looking for, a large plot of land, so we could build our guest house grow our own vegetables, a garden with 45 coconut trees and still have space for privacy. The view of rice fields and flora, the buffalo wonder in the fields and eagles circle the skies, so peaceful...
The lay out of the gardens, studios and our own home enables everyone their individual space ,yet still knowing you can have company.....
