About this property

Self-contained studio w/ terrace & parking in a quiet & central location

Bright, south-facing, self-contained studio with private, planted terrace on a quiet, green lane.

Fun space with sofa bed and mezzanine bedroom accessed by a ladder. Perfect for individuals or couples but will sleep up to four (could suit a family).

Brand-new (in 2020) open-plan living, dining and cooking area with smart TV. There are a pair of full length blinds over the entrance French doors for privacy.

Central location in beautiful, historic town of Lewes. 5 mins walk to pubs, shops & restaurants.

Located at the front of host's house (available daily).

The space:
The studio is a small but perfectly-formed, open-plan living and sleeping area. It is therefore ideal for individuals or couples, however it can sleep up to four.

There is one permanent king-sized double bed in the eves in of the roof on a mezzanine floor and one king-sized double sofa-bed in the living area.

Both beds are really comfortable. The mezzanine bed has a very popular 'Evesleep' mattress and the sofa-bed was carefully chosen from Habitat for comfort and ease of assembling and putting away.

Please note that the mezzanine bed is accessed by climbing a ladder, so any adults or children sleeping there must comfortable and safe using this.

The kitchen is equipped with fridge, oven, two-ring hob, kettle, toaster, cafetiere and utensils, glassware and crockery for up to four people to self-cater. Tea, coffee, sugar and olive oil is provided.

There is a fold out table and chairs for 4

There is free Wifi and the TV has Netflix, Amazon and Freeview player (on demand BBC, ITV, C4 & C5) included.

The bathroom is generously spaced and has a shower, sink and loo.

Towels and bedding are provided.

Keys are kept in a keycode box for easy check-in.

Guest access:
Guests can also access private terrace with surrounding planting at front of studio.

Other things to note:
The shop 2 mins away sells croissants, artisan bread, coffee, juice, basic veg, Indian takeaway and everything you'd need for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

The neighbourhood:
Ed’s place is located in East Sussex, England, United Kingdom.
Lewes is a uniquely characterful town with quirky independent shops and an incredible array of pubs, Georgian buildings, cobbled streets and a medieval castle. There's a local cinema / cafe / restaurant called the Depot which is just as good for hanging out as it is for seeing a film. You can easily lose hours in the vintage / antiques shops and local food markets (Fridays and first Saturday of the month).

It's a vibrant place for all ages - famous for summer music festivals, Charleston's Speakers Festival and bonfire parades. At the bottom of our road, is a park perfect for kicking a ball and a playground. Other amenities include a local skatepark, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, tennis courts, churches, historic buildings, music recitals and gig venues (The Con Club two mins away is worth checking for listings).

There are various websites (eg. Viva Lewes) where you can see what's on.

Getting around:
We are 15 minutes from the South Downs Way and great walks to Kingston and Alfriston, both with great pubs. Other fun walks include striding over Black Cap on the way to a pub lunch in Plumpton, and from Glynde to Lewes, via Mount Caburn. There is also exciting mountain-biking in Friston Forest, 30 minutes away.

Beaches we love are: Tidemills and Hope Gap (leading to Cuckmere Haven) in Seaford; Birling Gap, in East Dean, and Rottingdean with its seaside promenade to Brighton Marina.

Lewes Train station is a 10 minute walk, with trains to Glynde (5 minutes), Brighton (15 minutes) and London (1 hour 10 minutes). There are buses to Glyndebourne Opera House too.

Tiny cottage, big comfort
Ideal location for town where there is plenty to see and do. Very clever use of minimal space. Nice to sit on the sofa and enjoy all the surrounding shrubs and tres outside. Would wholeheartedly recommend for a quick stopover in Lewes.

South Downs way stop off...
A lovely stay - Thankyou Ed and Abi! The accommodation is lovely - compact and practical with a lovely outside space. Perfect for our first night stop walking the South Downs way. On a pretty lane just outside of town centre - location is perfect. We had a lovely meal at the local swan pub (recommended by Ed and Abi)... Great hosts, lovely stay - thankyou!!!

The perfect getaway
Everything was perfect. Edward and Abi are lovely and gave some great suggestions for various walks to do around Lewes. It really did feel like a home away from home. I stayed five nights so I did plenty of cooking and found all the utensils I needed. The set up is smart and as a Pilates teacher I can say there was plenty of room for me. I liked the location, one direction leads to town which is a short walk to everything you need and some nice independent bakery's, the other has a green space with a stream running through it which is super peaceful. It’s tucked away down a quiet road so it’s really quiet and relaxing. It was great, if I could give it six stars I would :)

We love the area we live in and really want you to enjoy it too. We've tried really hard to make a gorgeous space to stay next to our house that we'd love to stay in and we hope you like it.

We work locally and we're around mornings, evenings and weekends. Abi is around on Fridays too. We will stay out of your way but do feel free to ask us anything at any time.

We have two boys so know things to do for all ages. We'll send you our favourite walks, beaches, bike rides, pubs, restaurants and places to visit when you book.
