The Bronte and Pendle Way are also within walking distance, as is the Pennine Way for those keen walkers amongst you. Pendle Hill, home to the Pendle Witches is close by, as is the picturesque village of Haworth, which is the home of the Bronte sisters.
Families will enjoy Thornton Hall Country Park or Hesketh Farm Park at Bolton Abbey. Take a train ride from Oxenhope to Keighley on the Worth Valley Railway, or visit Bolton Abbey via the steam railway from Embsay. Cruise on a canal boat from Hebden Bridge, Foulridge or Skipton for a leisurely outing through the countryside. Take time to visit the local towns of Colne, Barnoldswick, Skipton and Clitheroe where you will find independent shops and restaurants, as well as many supermarkets. Cyclists can ride the ’Tour de Yorkshire’ route around Haworth and Hebden Bridge, or mountain bike in Gisburn Forest and the Trough of Bowland. Drive through amazing countryside to Grassington and Malham in the Yorkshire Dales, or to the Lake District National Park, and Blackpool and Morecambe on the coast.
