About this property

Perfect 3 bedroom home for a relaxing break by the sea with friends/family/pets

An attractive and comfortable victorian cottage, once occupied by the local coastguard, the house retains period features alongside modern facilities. It is situated in a perfect position to explore the beautiful Norfolk coast and countryside.

Off road parking is provided at the front of the cottage next to the garden fence. The cottage is accessed through a gate along a path through the sunny garden with flower boarders and a picnic bench. The path goes along the side of the house to a further enclosed garden and patio with seating and BBQ at the rear. Beyond the rear garden wall is a field and track (Watch Lane) leading to a lovely sandy beach and sea, just a short distance to carry your bucket and spade. The beach is both dog and child friendly but if you prefer to sit away from our furry friends there is also a dog free beach.

Entry to the cottage is at the back via a side gate. Security lighting is provided at front, back and side. Access to the cottage is via the key safe next to the door. After unlocking the door you will step into a hall and find the well equipped fitted kitchen which overlooks the rear garden. The smallest room, the WC is opposite with fitted basin and toilet.

Further down the hall past the coat hooks is the lounge/diner with an extending pine dining table and chairs seating up to 6. A light and sunny room with 2 large sash windows overlooking the front garden.

Two large leather sofas and a footstool provide comfortable seating in front of the beautiful Victorian cast iron and tiled fireplace (lovely for open fires in the winter). there's a Smart TV, free Wifi, a few books and guides and a selection of board games, cards etc for your entertainment.

Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, one double and one with adult size bunk beds overlooking the front garden and the rear bedroom with a small double bed overlooking the rear garden, field and a glimpse of the sea beyond. Off the landing is the small bathroom with a bath with shower over and a basin.

Bacton cottage
Kitchen, living room and bedrooms were excellent, however the main entrance door was very difficult to lock/unlock, the toilet is squeezed under the stairs and very difficult to manoeuvre in and the stairs are very steep.

Quaint Cottage
We and our dog thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this very comfortable quaint cottage, just 5 minutes from great beaches. The rear and front enclosed gardens were perfect to relax in and for our dog to run around. We would highly recommend it and look forward to staying there again.

About the host

We live in south Norfolk and initially bought a holiday home, Keswick Cottage in Bacton 8 years ago for use of family and friends because I had fond memories of happy family holidays there as a child. We love this quiet village with its beautiful sandy beaches stretching for miles, people are so friendly and it has become a haven for dogs and their owners.
We enjoyed letting our first holiday home so much we bought Coastguard Cottage in 2019 and although it took longer to set up and open due to Covid 19 Lockdowns, it is now flourishing. We try to put some of the income from the cottages back into the properties to improve them, Coastguard Cottage will have replacement double glazed sash windows completed in 2023 but the income has also helped pay for our children's marriages over the years.
Although both retired from work, we currently maintain and clean the properties ourselves and make it our aim to offer well equipped, clean and comfortable holiday homes at a reasonable price, a place where we like to stay ourselves.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Coastguard Cottage because it is an attractive traditional victorian house providing light sunny rooms, period features and views in a good location for the beach and other facilities.

What makes this property unique

We love the tall ceilings and large sash windows, the beautiful victorian tiled fireplace with alcoves and cupboards either side and atmospheric wall lights, the turned wood staircase, the newly fitted kitchen and the sunny gardens both front and back
