4/10 Poor

Big disappointment
Big house as advertised but cavernous and no character. Smells dreadful with damp, old linen and towels. Carpets filthy, drains blocked from not being cleared - showers overr weflowing within on seconds. Stove thick with sticky grease and oil dripping from overhead fan when cooking. Outside seating areas unusable - Pond stinking with algae and scum making lower decking area unpleasant. Upper paved area has one garden bench-table which is rotting and paint peeling making it unusable. Bins full to the brim - unable to put out any trash. Thoroughly unenjoyable stay and couldn’t wait to leave.

Rowan house
On arrival our first impressions were amazing and as the holiday went on they only got better!! Hats off to the owner and the team of people who deal with renting it out and the cleaners. The house was squeaky clean and the views were great! Thankyou for the fantastic holiday , we will be booking it again soon! Thankyou.

A hard to beat Scottish break
Very impressive house in a beautiful location. Magnificent views of Dornoch Firth with the variety of wildlife typical of North East Scotland. The facilities of the area are many and the range would meet most tastes. Easy access to travel but just far away enough for comfort. Friendly locals who provide a really welcoming atmosphere. A location that deserves a return.

Great base in a fabulous location for exploring northern Scotland
Rowan House is the perfect base for exploring in this area. Great location with one of the best beaches I've ever seen in the UK right on the doorstep. Dunrobbin Castle is just around the corner and the golf courses nearby are superb. The house itself is so comfortable with plenty of room both inside and out for 5 of us and 2 dogs. We had elderly grandparents with us and everything being on one level made it so easy for grandad who is 90, his favourite spot in the house was at the picture window watching the world go by. Just a couple of niggles - the twin bedroom was next door to what we assume is the boiler and this could be heard all night and the wi-fi router was in this room which had a bright light in it so illuminated the room all night. Also a few essentials such as milk, tea, coffee and sugar would have been nice, especially as we arrived very late on the Friday evening due to a hold up on the A9 due to an accident and we couldn't make a drink when we arrived. None of this spoilt the holiday and we loved every minute of our stay.
