Terrible check-in but decent place
Before we arrived we received a code to unlock the key. What wasn’t mentioned was that the key had a hidden extension mechanism so we were unable to get in for 30 minutes (emails and messages went unanswered during this time as we didn’t have local phone service to call) . It wasn’t until we finally cracked and asked a permanent resident of the building for assistance that we finally figure it out. She told us she hears people struggling to get in all the time which annoys the other building residents. It was a really bad first impression.
Overall the place is reasonably nice and fairly clean. A weird shower meant there’s quite a bit of water damage in the bathroom area and a few weird yellow drips on the walls and pocket door but it’s not terrible. The washing machine works but there were no instructions so we had to guess at what the icons meant. (The instructions were supposed to be under the TV but there was only a warranty card for the washer).
Overall the place had most of the basics you’d need but wasn’t especially thoughtful about what guests might want. (Like, why was there no hand soap!? Why is the wardrobe placed so that you can’t open the doors?!)
The place is located near a cute park and a few great restaurants that are worth checking out. We were able to walk or take transit to anywhere we wanted to go pretty easily. I was thankful we had good weather so we were out of the apartment nearly the entire time. Lisbon is lovely and this place would do in a pinch.
