Vrbo mucked it up! Avoid booking through them at all costs

I was contacted on the morning of our stay to say that Vrbo had overbooked our venue and our room was not available. There was NO OTHER ACCOMMODATION AVAILABLE (of similar price, anyway) IN MARGATE THAT NIGHT, so they had found us something in Ramsgate. We looked at the Ramsgate place - it was terrible! No way we’re we staying there, so we had to cancel the whole weekend. Good job De la Soul had cancelled their gig at Dreamland a few days prior. If we’d missed that due to Vrbo, we would have been livid and demanding all our costs and more. Really bad service from Vrbo. I felt for the man who had to deal with this (no doubt being paid peanuts for his trouble and in no way to blame for this fiasco). I’d read a review before we booked saying that Vrbo had done this to someone else. Looks like they deliberately overbook - be warned! We’re certainly never booking through them again.
