About this property

The Cottage sleeps 5 Guests over 3 bedrooms on the first floor with the, Family Bathroom also on this floor.
Downstairs is the Lounge, Dining Room with Gas Fire and Reading Nook. There is also Under-stair Cupboard for coats and Boots.
In the Kitchen you should find everything your need including Electric Oven, Gas Hob, Dishwasher, Larder Fridge. Adjoining this is the large Utility with WC, Freezer and Washing Machine. We have Travel Cot, High Chair and Stair Gates available for our younger guests. From the Kitchen is the access to the Rear Garden up some small steps. There is a also a covered store for Bikes. The garden is of a size to enjoy the outside dining furniture, play games and enjoy the neighbouring cows.
The property is located opposite a working farm and in a country setting. Adjacent to the Deer Park this property offers a great resting place away from the hustle and bustle of the busier Lakes areas whilst still within easy access of local amenities.
There is Allocated Parking for 2 Vehicles in Off Road Private Car Park located approx 100 yards from Cottage
Short drive to the village of Cartmel home to Michelin Restaurants and our own Racecourse with Lake Windermere being a 15 minute drive.

Hi I am Claire; along with our Team here at Holker I manage and let the beautiful cottages as Holker Country Cottages situated on the Historic Holker Estate in the South of Cumbria. Being a stones throw from the spectacular Holker Hall and Gardens our cottages are well situated for access to the Lakes and beyond.

Why they chose this property

Rose Dene forms part of the Holker Estate which is owned by the Cavendish Family. The earliest records of a house on the present site date back to the beginning of the sixteenth century. The Estate has never been bought or sold but has passed by inheritance through just three families: the Prestons, the Lowthers and the Cavendishes, with each generation leaving its impressions, either by planning and altering the landscape or by changing the house by adding, re-facing, embellishing or even rebuilding – as was necessary after the disastrous fire of 1871. The Cavendish Family remain the owners of the Estate with the eldest daughter, Lucy and her husband Tor living in the Hall.
Rose Dene has the benefit of being adjacent to not only the Hall and Gardens but also the amazing Courtyard Cafe which is open between March and November each year. In the summer months the Courtyard becomes the Bess and Barrel Pop Up Pub, serving Pizzas, Craft Ales and much more.

All guests of the cottage enjoy free access to the Holker Hall and Gardens for the duration of their stay. With events happening across the year the Hall and Gardens at Holker are a real must see for any visitor to the Lakes.
