About this property

Built in the 1840's Shoemakers Cottage was once a mini warehouse and appears in a commercial residents record from 1849, leased by John Hogben, a shoemaker. Now converted and recently fully refurbished, Shoemakers Cottage is a stylish and cosy, well appointed home. Situated on a quiet residential street, just a short walk from the sea front, it's the perfect place for your seaside getaway.

Shoemaker's Cottage has been refurbished with guests in mind. There's a spacious living area with a three seater sofa (clic-clac sofa bed) and additional seating. Near the window is a desk area by the original flint wall for those travelling on business. Beyond the lounge is a large kitchen/diner with access to a sunny tiled courtyard. The perfect spot to unwind with a glass of wine. The bathroom is situated downstairs for easy access. And upstairs are two comfortable bedrooms, the main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom a single over double bunk. All beds have medium firm, memory foam topped, sprung mattresses for an excellent night's sleep, and both rooms have clothes rails, mirrors, storage and black out curtains. Bed linen, towels, toiletries and a welcome basket with a selection of teas and coffees are all provided.

For families with young children, we provide a travel cot + mattress, highchair with tray, colourful plates and cutlery and board games.

I live and work in London and love to come to Ramsgate with my family. It's a brilliant, creative town with loads to do. I work in the TV and music industry and enjoy comedy, walks, yoga, movies, interiors and gardening. I manage Shoemakers Cottage in Ramsgate and also Sea Song Cottage in Broadstairs. A positive guest experience is very important to me and I hope I can provide everything you need for a lovely stay.

Why they chose this property

Shoemakers Cottage is a special place and we think a little bit different with some fab character features. The property has an interesting history and used to be the workplace of a shoemaker in the 1800s. It became a residential property in the 90s. Since we've owned it, we've really enjoyed the refurbishment with guest comfort in mind. It's very well equipped and there's lots of room for everyone to spread out. The location is brilliant too, its so close to the beach with a short walk down to the Main Sands and the marina and town close by. The street is also quiet and the beds comfy so you're guaranteed a peaceful stay.

What makes this property unique

We love Shoemakers Cottage and immediately saw it's potential when we bought it. Its only been a holiday let since 2021 so everything is new. With its character features, such as an original flint interior wall, a thoughtful layout and complimentary interiors, we hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do.
