Ask about all fees before you book
The good: The apartment is beautiful, views of the water are stunning, and it’s right next to the bus stop with minimal steps. The kitchen has just about everything you need to cook and bathrooms have a hair dryer. The two patios are the best part. The host was quick to answer any and all questions. They also provided step by step pictures to purchase bus tickets through an app. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. The ok: The beds and bedding are not the most comfortable. There were only 2 towels provided for 2 people for a whole week. The host was gracious enough to bring fresh towels after a couple days. We did have to go buy more toilet paper after a few days. Be sure to bring some kind of air fresheners for the bathrooms because the drains really smell. Also be sure to bring an adapter for the Italian outlets. The adapters we brought that worked all over Europe were too big for the outlets in the apartment. You only get one key, which makes it difficult if your travel partner(s) want to split up for a day. The bad: ask about any and all fees beyond what you pay for on VRBO. We were surprised with $15/day parking for a spot that’s not even guaranteed. Our flights were delayed so we were not able to check in until 8:45 PM and were then assessed a 40€ late checkin fee. The website only mentions check in after 4:00 pm. On top of all that you also have to pay “city tax” of 3€ per person per day. All of this is not paid through VRBO, but through the hired person who checks you in. I did feel like we were scammed with those fees. Beware in the shower, the water does not drain quickly and can become VERY slippery. The neighbors are very loud and sounded like they were fighting all day. They also smoke outside so if you have the bedroom windows open you will mostly likely smell cigarettes. Things to know: you must have a mask for the bus. When you’re trying to get back to the apartment from Amalfi take the Pergola bus. None of that was made clear when we checked in. They gave us screen shots to get bus tickets, however the stop used on the screenshots is no where near the apartment.

Spectacular View
The view was worth every penny. It’s important to buy bus tickets in town as the journey by foot is a 4o minute beautiful but challenging hike up or down steps on the mountain. Super market was a 10 minute hike uphill. It was great to be just outside of the hustle and bustle of Amalfi looking out at the peaceful mountains and sea.

Even though the home was not in the center of the city, it was still easy to travel by bus and/or walking. The views from the outside patio and balcony were incredible, the apartment was cozy, and Manuela was always available to communicate with. We would highly recommend this home to anyone!
