About this property

Casa Limonero Two-Bedroom House in Charming Pueblo Blanco - Sleeps 4

Casa Limonero is a charming village house in the heart of the pretty pueblo blanco of Casarabonela. The property has recently been fully renovated to appeal to guests but retains its special character. Spacious, bright and comfortable accommodation is complemented by a large roof terrace commanding incredible views across the Guadalhorce Valley down to Málaga and the Mediterranean. Please be aware that this is a typical village house with steep, narrow stairs unsuitable for children or individuals with restricted mobility. Furthermore the two bedrooms, although entirely independent, are interlinked thus access to one is via the other, which is not uncommon in rural village houses. The house lies on an old, narrow street with no direct vehicular access. Parking is available at the nearby municipal car park from which it is a short walk to the property. There is no TV at the property, but there is fibre internet so feel free to bring your own device for streaming . There is a bluetooth speaker to stream music from your mobile library.

The owners are two good friends with a shared love of the beautiful village of Casarabonela (both of whom live locally) and a desire to share the pueblo and its environs with people wishing to experience life in a traditional Spanish pueblo. Casarabonela is such a refreshing change from the congestion of the coast and offers the opportunity for guests to experience a small Andalusian town surrounded by staggeringly beautiful countryside. You will find everyone so friendly and welcoming. Small we may be, but our heart is large! You can stumble out of the front door and straight into the bakery for the freshest possible bread and later take a few steps further for tapas at bar-restaurant Tomate Algo where Juan and his family will look after you and serve delicious, freshly prepared food. Check out the menú del día - three courses for 12 euros!

Casarabonela is typical pueblo blanco with its origins in Moorish Spain, the remnants of which can still be seen in the castle ruins and the old Arabic Quarter. The municipality is home to 2,500 citizens, many of whom live in the surrounding countryside where local agriculture focuses on olives (and truly exceptional extra virgin olive oil), citrus fruit and almonds. The pueblo is a working Spanish town well served by amenities (two banks, a pharmacy, butcher, fishmonger, mini market, health centre, multiple bars and restaurants) and also boasts one of the most beautiful municipal piscinas in all of Andalucía! Set against a backdrop of the mountains, the pool is allied to an amazing Argentinian barbecue restaurant offering the best views in the village. Truly Casarabonela has it all, and being only 40 minutes from the airport and the beaches of the Costa del Sol it makes for the perfect away-from-it-all break without driving for hours to get there. Easy access to Córdoba, Seville, Granada, the Sierra Nevada, the Caminito del Rey, El Chorro gorge, Ardales lakes, Ronda, and please do not overlook the truly wonderful Málaga city itself. Málaga is not just an airport! Enjoy.

Guests are requested to advise of their estimated time of arrival and liaise with the hosts regarding the arrangements in advance.

Well kept, very clean. Location is unique, felt like the house was inside a maze built on a mountain. The highlight of the house is the terrace.

About the host

Hosted by Susan Cambridge

Host profile image
I am Susie, and I own Casa Limonero with my good friend, Jacqueline. Jacqueline lives near the centre of the pueblo whereas I live in the surrounding countryside. We both love Casarabonela and are looking forward to sharing our beautiful village with our guests.

Why they chose this property

Casa Limonero offers the best of all worlds. It is situated right in the centre of the pueblo so all the amenities are on the doorstep, but down a narrow, traffic-free street so the setting is quiet. The house is built in the traditional style over two floors of accommodation and a third floor with a storage/utility room and a magnificent roof terrace. Totally renovated in 2021 Casa Limonero now combines traditional village house living with a fresh, modern feel and all the amenities you would expect. It is the perfect base from which to explore all that Andalusia has to offer.

What makes this property unique

The situation in a quiet corner of a charming and very traditional Spanish 'pueblo blanco' offers an insight into what it is to live in a working Spanish village while at the same time providing ready access to country pursuits, the coastal resorts, the gem that is Malaga city and also the great sights of Andalusia such as Ronda, the Caminito del Rey, El Torcal, Seville, Córdoba and Granada.
