About this property

Stag cottage is situated in the South Downs National Park and is a ten minute drive from Brighton. It's a traditional farm worker's cottage in Rottingdean, built in the 1950s.

The farm itself is a working sheep and arable farm with a small but dedicated workforce. There are wonderful places to walk and cycle to enjoy the stunning countryside and uninterrupted views of the South Downs and the sea.

Brighton is on your doorstep with its array of amazing restaurants, bars and coffee shops.

This is a beautiful, newly renovated cottage with all the mod cons you'd expect from a well appointed home. There is a dishwasher in the kitchen, along with all the usual suspects. The upstairs bathroom has a bath, with shower over. Downstairs is an enormous wetroom with shower and basin. There is a separate toilet downstairs too. There is no gas up here so the heating, hot water and cooking are all electric.

The master bedroom has twin beds which zip together to make a king size. Please just let me know what orientation you'd like the room and I'll make sure it's right for you. Its default position is as a king size bed.

There is a working fireplace in the dining room on the ground floor. Initial logs can be provided if you want to use it.

The lounge is a cosy room with two sofas and a 40" TV. There is a Roku box for accessing on demand programming.

There are wonderful horse rides through the countryside. If you would like to bring your horse, we have stables available via separate negotiation. Please send me a message for further information.

You have access to the whole property including an enclosed front and back garden.

There are fabulous walks and bridle paths across the farm and into the South Downs National Park. The South Downs Way is nearby and it is possible to wander down to the sea.

Our gate away week-end

Overall quite acceptable!! Fantastic location with a bridle way at the back of the house The fact the property is on a working farm there are no much of a view but the location is superb! Also few issues with the shower Boiling hot water or cold and very slow water running Not sure we will Like to stay at the property again but we love the area So for the 2 of us was fine Regards

I moved to Brighton in 1998 and love it down here on the south coast. I joined the farm in early 2019 and I manage the cottage along with various other roles on the farm. I don't live there but I'm only a few miles away.

Why they chose this property

I decided to let Stag Cottage as a holiday rental due to the amazing location. It's in a beautiful setting with the sea to the front and the rolling hills behind. There are many different bridle paths across the farm, which are perfect for walking, cycling or horse riding.

This is a working farm, on the side of a windy hill. When it rains it's muddy and when it's dry it's incredibly dusty. Wellies are essential. Everywhere is always dusty so don't wash your car before you come!

There is heavy machinery around the whole site, including tractors, telehandlers and a combine harvester. Please be aware of these. There are also various vehicles in the farm yard to the front of the cottage.

What makes this property unique

There is parking available for multiple cars and Brighton, Eastbourne, Lewes and beyond are easily accessible. The farm is served by local taxi firms and take aways.
