About this property

Heart of High Country, 4Bdr/3Bath, Jacuzzi, Rec room

Hike, play, and explore. Then soak, snuggle, and relax. It’s so easy to take a break from the everyday in the peaceful quiet of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the High Country Hide-Away.

Rock away stress and take in fresh mountain air on the covered porch. Embrace calm in the hot tub or in front of the cozy wood-burning fireplace. Read a book in the loft recliner.

Important: Our neighborhood has a firm policy on noise - nothing audible outside the cabin after 9:30pm. As such, our cabin is not a good fit for guests who wish to have a party. Rowdy guests must leave the property immediately, if a neighbor alerts the owner or the police of a problem. Minimum age for responsible guest is 26. See more in Vacation Rental Agreement, available during booking process.

Your health and safety is important! Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we do not allow same-day turn-around. In other words, the last guest will have departed our cabin at least 30 hours prior to your arrival. Plus, our house-keeping contractor follows all CDC-recommended cleaning procedures. Please let us know if you have any concerns or questions.

At an elevation close to 4000 feet / 1200 meters, the temperature rarely rises above 80F / 25C in the summer. The cabin has air conditioning, but you probably won't need it, even in August. Come for Fall colors. Or visit in the winter for snow activities. This cabin is comfortable year-round.

Regarding accessibility for those with mobility issues, the driveway has an incline. There is one step up from the driveway to the deck, which leads into the main floor (kitchen, main sitting area). On the main floor, two bedrooms share a bathroom (with bathtub/shower). We are happy to provide more details.

The cabin features a 60” Plasma big screen TV in the basement/game room. A Smart TV with Roku in the main family room. Plus each bedroom has a 40" Flat Panel LED Smart TV. Cable TV is available on every TV.

Free internet access is available for your laptops and mobile devices.

The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, blender, crock pot and more - great either for a large group meal or a romantic dinner for two. Great view right from the dining table while you eat!

Whether you seek a weekend getaway or an extended stay, both tranquility and excitement can be found here. Nearby Area Attractions: Take a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, a ribbon of road through the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina High Country. The region’s largest town Boone (just six miles away) is home to Appalachian State University and its three-time division I-AA national champion football team. So many opportunities for enjoying the outdoors: hiking, zip line, canoeing, whitewater rafting, skiing, and picnicking in the community! Experience Appalachian heritage and culture with musical offerings, events, and attractions like Horn in the West, Music Fest in Sugar Grove, Tweetsie Railroad, Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, Merle Fest, Concerts on the Lawn, square dances at the Todd Mercantile, and back-porch bluegrass jams at the Original Mast General Store in Valle Crucis.

The cabin has a driveway and small parking area, so we encourage guests to limit number of vehicles to 3 total. Additional parking is available near the community center, about 5 minute inclined walk from the cabin.

Comfortable and Great Location
The house was nice, clean and comfortable. 5 adult women stayed here with enough room and privacy for us all. Great location - not in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Blowing Rock or Boone, but within a 10-20 minute drive to them.

Couple's getaway
It was so nice to have a floor for each couple's room and bathroom. The open kitchen and living room was enough space for us all to cook and chat together. The hot tub and pool area downstairs was perfect! Great host and property!

We know location matters, and this cabin sets you right in the heart of so many High Country activities. Come spend sometime at our cabin and find out for yourself!

This cabin was built in 2004.

Why they chose this property

The world is full of beauty, and the Blue Ridge Mountains are rich in opportunities to experience and explore that beauty. Having lived and vacationed in many locations world-wide, we know that location is key when choosing a place to spend your vacation. We spent nearly a year looking for the perfect cabin in the perfect location, and were thrilled when we finally found this home.

The Crystal Mountain neighborhood is well hidden yet still easy to get to. It's conveniently located 6-7 miles from several attractive towns: Blowing Rock, Boone/ASU, Valle Crucis: home of the Original Mast General Store.

You can also easily reach many other nearby activities, such as:
Boone Golf Course, open to public
Grandfather Mountain and other places to hike
Tweetsie Railroad
Appalachian Ski Mtn
Town of Banner Elk
Moses H. Cone Park

What makes this property unique

Peace and quiet. Beautiful view. Nature and wildlife - birds, deer, turkeys. Plus great features inside in the cabin: pool table, hot tub, 60” Plasma TV to watch your favorite sports team or Blue Ray for movies. Each bedroom has its own 40" Flat Panel LED Smart TV and one more in the family room. We have three other DVD players setup with some of the TVs. Get outside and enjoy, then kick back in the comfort of this cabin. You won't be roughing it here.
