About this property

2 bedroom accommodation in Dinnet, near Aboyne

This 19th century cottage is in a great location from which to explore the surrounding scenery, with lochs, forests and mountains all nearby.. Sleeping four people in two double bedrooms it is ideally suited for couples seeking a particularly comfortable and unusual getaway together.

Step inside Drumniall Cottage and you will instantly find a haven of peace and tranquillity. Crammed with lots of interesting hidden gems and subtle signs pointing to the vernacular heritage of the cottage, it is an absolute treasure trove of interesting artefacts and artworks. Particularly suited for couples, this detached cottage, next to the owner’s home and on a working farm, has been renovated to retain the early 19th century character of the cottage, yet incorporates everyday comforts...even a hairdryer! The absence of a television only enhances the atmosphere and ambiance of Drumniall. However the excellent Wi-Fi reception means you can still catch up on the world outside. The very restful rooms are complemented by traditional furnishings, a very efficient wood burner in the living room and a plethora of books and other literature to immerse yourself in. Its south-facing aspect makes the most of stunning views over Royal Deeside, and its central location makes it an ideal base for enjoying the many activities and experiences available in the area. Regretably pets are not permitted due to the close proximity of sheep in the fields.

Rich in historical sites, there are many to visit within close proximity, including Craigievar Castle, the ‘jewel’ of the famed Castles of Aberdeenshire, which is just minutes away. Nature lovers will not be disappointed, with many species of bird, including golden eagles, having been spotted near to the cottage, and deer herds in neighbouring Glentanar and Glenshee.

Royal Deeside is famed for the quality of its landscape and scenery, with farmland, forests, lochs, rivers, upland moors and high mountains. Walks of different type and length can be enjoyed from the cottage itself, whilst the famous Cairngorm Mountains are just a short car journey away. A striking view of Lochnagar, 3,800ft, is to be had from outside the cottage itself.

Balmoral, the Royal Family’s Highland home is just a few miles from Drumniall Cottage and many walks can be enjoyed on the estate itself throughout the year. The Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve is a short drive from the cottage, whilst pony trekking, gliding, quad-riding, skiing (in season), fishing, shooting and golf are readily available nearby. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 2¾ miles.. All on the Ground Floor:
