To the rear is a private, enclosed, mature lawned garden with a patio, a perfect sun trap, with seating furniture ideal for al fresco eating and relaxation. On cooler evenings, snuggle beside the wood burner and enjoy TV entertainment. The cottage is pet-friendly, however they are not allowed upstairs. The well equipped kitchen offers the opportunity to dine in, or for those preferring to dine out, the surrounding area includes many gastro pubs, with rosette awarded restaurants, and a very popular Indian restaurant, literally within a few minutes’ drive.
The cottage’s central location allows you to enjoy and explore Norfolk’s amazing coastline and the famous Norfolk Broads National Park within 10 minutes’ drive. The village of Hemblington has a village shop and restaurant, and there is a local farm shop in the neighbouring village of Blofield. The RSPB nature reserve at Strumpshaw Fen is a haven for birdwatchers and nature lovers. The Fairhaven Gardens at South Walsham makes for a lovely day out. The Norfolk Broads is best explored by renting a day boat or enjoy a river trip. Canoeing and kayaking also available. Why not jump on the Bure Valley railway to enjoy a steam train journey? The route takes you from Wroxham, known as the capital of the Norfolk Broads, on to the lovely Georgian market town of Aylsham, where you can jump on and off mid-station at the poplar broadland village of Coltishall with its riverside pubs and cafés.
The city of Norwich has a castle, museum, cathedral, historic riverside pubs, great restaurants, two indoor shopping malls and plenty of high street shops to enjoy some retail therapy. Alternatively there are sandy beaches at Caister-on-Sea, Scratby, Hemsby, and Sea Palling. Winterton-on-Sea allows dogs on the beach year-round. National Trust’s Horsey Gap, 16 miles, where you can walk on the sand dunes and see the seals and pups on the beach from November to February. The lively traditional seaside resort at Great Yarmouth, 15 miles, has wide sandy beach, donkey rides, a pier with fun fair, amusements, crazy golf, model village, wax works and promenade where rides can be enjoyed on the train and by traditional horse drawn carriages. Why not enjoy a day at the races, both horse and dog racing stadiums? Golf courses can be found at nearby Blofield and Sprowston.
