About this property

Cae'r Blaidd Country House

Cae'r Blaidd is superbly situated, offering panoramic views over the Vale of Ffestiniog and the Moelwyn Mountains. It is perfect for family and friend get-togethers, or any group that wants to enjoy this fantastic location in a setting remeniscent of the grandeur of a bygone age.

The rooms of the house are truly beautiful, with original Victorian features and large ceilings. The two reception rooms have wood-burning stoves* and the dining room has an impressive window, displaying the moelwyn mountain range in all its glory. You can say goodbye to the day by watching the sun drop behind the mountains in the evenings.

The house boasts a gym and cycle store, which can be accessed from steps outside or from the house. A secure place to store your beloved bike.

Another special feature about the property is our open-air living area. Complete with Garden lodge, wood-fired hot tub, with jets** (prior permission required to use), and BBQ, friends and family can relax and / or celebrate outdoors while enjoying the breath-taking beauty of Snowdonia or admire the stars; or if the weather is inclement, commune around the fire-pit in the Garden lodge.

The location provides easy access to mountains, including Snowdon, the sea, narrow gauge railways, including the Welsh Highland Railway and the Ffestiniog Railway, castles, including Harlech, and the slate and copper mines. Notable activities in the immediate vicinity include the world renowned Zip-world caverns and Go Below.

The region has an enormous amount to offer walkers of all level. Details of notable local walks can be found on our website. The area is also a playground for the more adventurously inclined, with plenty of climbing and mountain routes, sea sports and mountain-biking.

The property is also 3 miles from the downhill mountain bike routes of Blaenau Ffestiniog and with easy access to several major internationally-known mountain bike trails, including trails in the Gwydyr Forest, the Penmachno Forest Trails and Coed y Brenin.

The opportunity to take part in activities such as golfing and fishing is also an easy distance away.

* an allowance of 2 bags of wood (mix of kindling, small pieces and logs) is povided. Any additional requirements will need to be ordered and paid for in advance of your stay.

**please note that the jets and water filter cannot be used between November and February, or at anytime where freezing is a risk. Prior permission is required to use the hot tub. No prior expereince is required and permission is unlikely to be refuse. We require this step so that we can manage expectations of wood fired hot tubs. Please contact us to discuss. Wood is not included in the price and will need to be purchased separately. We feel this is the fairest way to operate for our guests as wood use can vary significantly dependent upon level of use, season and fire-lighting proficiency.
Kitchen

Reflecting its history as a Victorian kitchen and functional food preparation area for a youth hostel and guest house, this fantastic room is a blend of the commercial, vintage and rustic, with decor that nods to the steampunk industrial era in which it was built. The kitchen is large and functional with all the cooking equipment you might need. Equipment includes: dishwasher; food processor; nespresso machine; two range style cookers; microwave oven; large fridge/freezer; toaster; and all the standard equipment you would expect.

Bedrooms

All of the bedrooms have their own memorable features. Several have high ceilings; spectacular views of the Moelwyn mountains; an en-suite bathrooms. The rooms offer a range of sleeping arrangements to accommodate couples, families and friends. There is a bunk room suitable for children and a deluxe twin / family room that can be set to have two double beds or one double and two singles. Just state your preference. Our ground floor bedroom is designed to be accessibility friendly with hard floor and rugs that can be removed upon request, plug sockets at chest height and a walk in shower next door. N.B Bedroom 1 and 5 have direct fire escape access outdoors.

Unbelievably Good
If you are reading about this house, looking at the pictures and wondering whether it is too good to be true, it isn’t. This house is amazing, and completely lives up to and exceeds expectations. I stayed with a large group of friends for a celebration and everyone was beyond impressed by the setting, the size, the views and the amenities. Not only does the property have everything you’d expect, it has more. The hot tub, the fire pit, the gym, the games room. There was something for everyone and I am genuinely now just looking for a reason to get family or friends together to return. You’re near some beautiful parts of Wales with some great outdoor activities to do. If you were with family, the house is stacked with board games. The house feels lived in and you can feel the history of it. I will always remember the time I’ve spent there.

Can't beat the location and space
I'm a regular at this absolutely stunning property. You can't find a better location, it's easily accessible but feels remote and peaceful with the best views over the Moelwynion. The direct access to walking paths is brilliant and vicinity to a local shop for essentials. The house is absolutely beautiful, clean and spacious. It has been so lovingly restored and offers many different areas to sit and relax plus really spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds. The kitchen is also wonderful and well equipped. Everything is so well thought through, I would highly recommend this property!

A wonderful house in a beautiful place!
Cae’r Blaidd is fantastic house with beautiful views over Snowdonia and great facilities. We stayed with 20 people and everyone loved it with not a single complaint. The house is spacious and comfortable with a decent kitchen and great rooms. The showers were good and importantly the beds were very comfortable. The wood fired hot tub worked a treat. The owners were friendly and helpful when making the booking and we would all definitely come and stay again.

Fabulous house!
The house was AMAZING and exceeded our expectations - the photos on the website don’t do it justice. It is in a great location and there are beautiful views of the Welsh countryside from the front of the house. The downstairs rooms were all huge, which was ideal for our New Years Eve celebration. The bedrooms are cozy and the beds were really comfortable. We didn’t get chance to use the arctic hut, but the hot tub was well used and was a very welcome addition! Ursula was really helpful before our stay answering queries etc. Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for Cae’r Blaidd. We hope to return soon!
