Cozy cabin
The cabin was lovely! Clean and comfortable. The house is conveniently located near the Y but also away from Stateline making it a peaceful place to stay.

Wedding weekend
We had a nice stay at Mary’s. The yard was wonderful for our son! The house was cozy. The one small bathroom was a bit hard for 3 adults but we made it work. We got 3 rooms so we could put our pack n play in one, but there was no room with the bed, so one son had to sleep in the large closet and the other by our bed. My only complaint is the bed in the big room is insanely high off the ground. I’m 5’4 and the mattress easily went up to my shoulders. I’ve never seen a bed so high and it was a little rough navigating the step stool at night. Mary was very easy to talk with and very accommodating! Location is wonderful and neighborhood is nice to walk around (although one neighbor yelled “get out of our neighborhood!”).

Comfy and quiet
The Tahoe cabin is a comfortable home in a quiet neighborhood close to recreation and shopping. I enjoyed seeing a mama bear and her cub and a coyote wandering along the streets. Folks were friendly, too. I suggest that the kitchen range be updated and that disposable dry and wet mops be provided. Lots of hot water and clean towels for showering were appreciated. We also used the handy washer and dryer a number of times during our 10 day stay. The backyard has potential but was not shaded enough for us to use it much. On the whole, it suited the needs of our family just fine. I would definitely recommend it.

Cabin in the woods in a perfect location!
We stayed at this relaxing property among the trees for 5 nights with our two pups. All of the conveniences of home. The backyard was the best part! Our pups loved it. Comfy furniture too! The bathroom is pretty small, so could see sharing with more than two people a challenge for hanging up towels…but the huge walk-in closet and other closet space could solve that issue. Close to hiking trails, parks, and restaurants. We recommend this property!

Quiet neighborhood very close to attractions and beaches
My family had a wonderful 4 days at this house. Very well supplied and great location. The only complaint is that the kitchen/ dining room floors had not been mopped when we arrived. It was sticky to walk on and turned our bare feet black.

About the host

Host profile image
We have owned and managed our cabin since December of 2004, and we consider it a labor of love. Both of us have worked most of our lives for the State of California and live in Fair Oaks, CA and are now retired.

Why they chose this property

We are nature lovers and animal lovers, and appreciate the variety of outdoor activities available in the area. We love to kayak from Kiva beach to Emerald Bay, hike in the Desolation Wilderness and other beautiful hikes in the area, snow shoe and cross country ski in Hope Valley, Camp Richardson and Fallen Leaf Lake areas. We recently began enjoying the newest lake sport, Stand Up Paddling (SUP), and found that our dog Kachina, a German Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix loves it too. This is truly our little piece of paradise!

While we never get to spend as much time as we'd like in Tahoe, we do make it a point to check-in for maintenance as much as possible. Work up here is never a burden as the clean crisp mountain air is so rejuvenating. We love that we can share our little piece of paradise with our guests, many of them returning year after year.

What makes this property unique

We love the rustic feeling of the cabin with the cedar siding and the quaint cottage feel of the interior. The vintage Wedgwood stove and oven add to the ambience, yet deliver wonderful cooking experiences all these years later. Mary loves to cook, so we try to make sure the cabin is well stocked both for us and for our guests. We stock the spice cabinet and the condiments regularly, and make sure that you'll have that gadget that you need for your special dish. If we don't have it, we want to know so that we can stock it for the future. We also invested in high quality mattresses in our two main bedrooms because we all need to wakeup to a great night's sleep.

Last, but one of the most important for us, is the ability to share our cabin with other pet loving people. We have a huge fenced back yard, a doggie door, and go out of our way to provide everything you need for your canine family members, while still keeping the cabin fresh and clean so that people who don't have pets still love to stay here. We hope you will come and enjoy the cabin as much as we do!
