About this property

Pitti Flat by Belcanto Villas

Nice three-room apartment, managed by BelcantoVillas, with modern furnishings and exposed beams. It has an entrance hall, double bedroom, large living room with kitchenette and comfortable double sofa bed, and bathroom with shower and window. It is located in the historical center (Piazza Pitti) in a neighborhood famous for its many picturesque artisan workshops, such as the one on the ground floor of the condominium which decorates the internal entrance with its works of art. The apartment can accommodate up to 4 people and is ideal for short and medium-term stays for those who love to visit the city of Florence feeling like a real local.

Located on the second floor, without a lift (44 steps), of a historic building in via Romana, 200 meters from Piazza Pitti, 50 meters from the Boboli Gardens, and a stone's throw from the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria and the most beautiful monuments of Florence. It is located in the Oltrarno area in the historic center, very lively and sought after due to its proximity to museums, craft shops and restaurants.

The apartment is located in the historic Oltrarno district. “Oltrarno” means “beyond the Arno” and this area extends along the south/left bank of the river. The Oltrarno represents the true essence of Florence: a quiet, green and therefore more relaxing area than the others. For this reason, many tourists appreciate it more and more. This area is also known as the handicraft district, famous for its delightful workshops, small shops and artisans' studios (in particular antique dealers and leather goods dealers): via Maggio represents the center of Florentine antiques.
From a rural centre, in the past centuries the Oltrarno became a chic district where many aristocrats built their palaces and villas. The largest of these is undoubtedly Palazzo Pitti, former residence of the Grand Duke of Tuscany. Nowadays Palazzo Pitti hosts many exhibitions and museums, among the most important in the city. Other important attractions of the Oltrarno are the Brancacci Chapel with its magnificent frescoes by Masaccio, Masolino and Filippino Lippi, the Piazzale Michelangelo with its breathtaking panorama of Florence, the magnificent church of San Miniato (one of the highest points of the city and the best example of Romanesque art in Tuscany) and the Ponte Vecchio which houses countless jewelers and goldsmiths. Inside Palazzo Pitti is the wonderful Boboli Gardens, an open-air museum of sculptures, some dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries.
Finally, the Oltrarno is also famous for the market in Piazza Santo Spirito (set up every morning), its cafés and wine bars (Olio & Convivium, Bene Vobis, Caffè degli Artigiani . . .) and the trattorias offering Tuscan cuisine (Il Santo bevitore, I 4 Leoni, Osteria del Cinghiale Bianco, Il Magazzino. . .). Those who choose to live in this area will find a wide range of food shops, pastry shops, bakers and much more.

The historic center of Florence is a restricted traffic area and therefore there are special rules for accessing or parking in this area.
The apartment is located within the restricted traffic area (ZTL).
If you want to use your car to get around the city, we advise you to pay particular attention to the road signs in order to avoid unpleasant fines and to contact private garages in the center (that is, the one closest to your home) in order to obtain a temporary access permit.
Recommended accesses to the Ztl: Porta Romana or Porta San Frediano

Upon your arrival at the garage, within 3 hours of your first access to the Ztl Oltrarno (but be careful not to cross the river!), the garage marks your plate on the "white list" for regular access without a fine.

Florence Pitti Flat
The Pitti Flat is in a great location for a visit to Florence, especially if you like to leave the busy tourist section behind after a long day of site seeing, take one of the scenic bridges across the Arno and enjoy drinks, dinner and dessert in a local trattoria, bar or pizzeria. The flat itself is simple, ,modern, and comfortable with an adequately stocked kitchen in case you want to cook. Additionally, there is a clothes hanger in the closet (for drying wet clothes) and a laundromat next door in case you'd prefer to dry clothes in a dryer. The flat is budget friendly for longer stays, it would be difficult to find a hotel room for this price anywhere in Florence. I stayed there alone for the first week and was always comfortable walking in the neighborhood after dark. There are a couple of markets nearby to pick up any provisions you need. The owner provides a notebook that outlines this and other info on restaurants and activities in the area. The owners also make themselves available in case you have any questions or needs. Regarding the space, unless you are used to sharing small spaces, or are with very close family, I personally would not want 4 people in this unit. A few cons for me were that the bed is quite firm, the towels are limited/thin, no kitchen towels that I could find and I would have given anything for a yoga mat! LOL We Americans love our creature comforts! A great stay overall!

Very nice and comfortable. One problem we faced was that there were some mosquitoes in the property.
