Bottom line. No, we don't recommend it
Normally, pros go before cons but I want to get to bottom line, would we recommend this property to others? No. Too many other options for the area and until the owner cleans and repairs the property to a healthy level, this is not an optimal space for travelers.
Mold and mildew. Lots of it. The wood floor in the living room has extensive mold and rot and I suspect that the wall paneling above it, behind the tv, is hiding a lot more. This would be a lot of work to repair, but in my opinion should be a priority for the owner for health reasons. The shower has a lot of mildew and in this case, I see no reason for it. A deep cleaning on a regular schedule would keep this from happening and it shouldn't even be an issue. Unnecessarily unhealthy and gross. The apartment is very dark and so some night lights would help, since there are steps up and down in all the rooms but the bath and the floors are uneven. Finally, communications were stressful like no other vacation rental we have dealt with. We were refused any access information until 24 hours prior to check in and then that didn't happen. We got instructions prior to boarding our flight three hours from check in. After that any response to questions took a while before a response was given.
What his apartment has going for it. Being in a great location in colonia Roma. The space is roomy with a kitchen that is well stocked with utensils. The beds are comfortable and the shower is hot. The apartment is quiet.
