At Langham Manor, find the family home you’ve always dreamed of. Stylish and spacious yet warm and welcoming, it’s the ideal base for quiet countryside breaks. Here, you can retreat and recharge, but step outside your door and you’ll find yourself in one of West Sussex’s most picturesque villages. Beyond this, there’s the vast and rolling South Downs National Park in which to ramble.
The Grade II-listed house is visually impressive, but with the soft edges that come from sympathetic modernisation. Lavish care and attention has resulted in breathtaking interiors, while open fires and sumptuous soft furnishings make this the most comfortable of environments.
If you’re staying as a group, you’ll find there’s plenty of space in which to unwind. Living areas include a drawing room and an office, both with sofas and an open fire; a snug with a television, board games and wood burner; and even an orangery, which doubles up as a second dining room. For at-home days and entertaining evenings, head to the cinema and games room to host a friendly pool contest or settle with a film on the projector screen.
At the heart of every house lies its kitchen and at Langham Manor, this is just as generous as you’d hope. Create hearty, home-cooked dishes in the Aga, helped along by all the appliances you need – including a built-in American-style fridge-freezer and two dishwashers. Eat together in the elegant dining room, where an open fire and ample seating lend themselves to long, sociable suppers.
Upstairs, you’ll find six light, bright bedrooms. Four have super king-sized beds, one has a double, and one features twin beds. Each of the house’s four bathrooms (three en-suite and one standalone) is equipped with a shower, while three also feature freestanding marble or cast iron bathtubs – perfect to sink into after a day’s exploring.
The house is reached along a curving driveway, leading to a private electric gate. To the side, there’s a double garage and large gravel parking area, while to the front and back you’ll discover charming historic grounds with plenty of sunny spots to sit, soak in your surroundings, and while away the time. And, when the sun sets, you even can gather around the glow of the bespoke fire pit to share stories, hot drinks and flame-toasted treats.
