Location: Figline, with Etruscan and Roman origins, experienced great cultural fervour during the Renaissance. Evidence of the settlement dates back to 1008, when the inhabitants descended into the valley to build the Castle of Feghine. Today, sites of considerable historical interest are preserved here.Incisa is a village rich in tradition, which still retains the charm of medieval splendour. It was in this town that the poet Francesco Petrarca lived with his family during his early childhood. His house can be visited today, as it has become a cultural centre for initiatives such as exhibitions and workshops. A few kilometres away from Florence (35 km), the Tuscan countryside opens up in all its beauty. The woods of Reggello (20km) are perfect for seeking silence and relaxation: after a visit to Vallombrosa (26km), amidst nature and abbeys, you can treat yourself to a break at trattorias with a rustic and genuine soul. In Impruneta (26 km), on the other hand, you can savour the wisdom of the craftsmen: Impruneta terracotta, a material that has historically characterised the landscape of Tuscany, is produced here.
