About this property
Secluded, Luxurious Villa overlooking Magens Bay and minutes from the Beach
The Dancing Orchid Villa is secluded and peaceful, located on the Northside of St. Thomas, overlooking Magens Bay and five minutes from Hull Bay. You can watch the sunrise over Magens Bay, almost touch the pelicans as they glide past on the breeze of the tradewinds, and fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean on the shoreline below. There is also a beautiful nature trail on the grounds that winds down to the shoreline below.
The interior space of this custom built villa is over 2,500 sq. ft., with tall, wood-beamed ceilings, interior stone walls, a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, custom mahogany cabinetry and woodwork, granite countertops, marble tiled bathrooms, and fully furnished with mahogany and teak furniture.
There are air conditioners and ceiling fans in all the bedrooms and the main room, even though there are near-constant trade winds. There is one bedroom on the main level, with a Queen-sized, hand-carved teak, 4 poster, canopy bed. An interior mahogany staircase leads to the lower level, and two larger bedrooms, with a King-sized, hand-carved mahogany, 4 poster, canopy bed in one room and a King-sized, hand-carved teak, 4 poster, canopy bed in the other. The lower level also contains a smaller kitchenette with mahogany cabinetry and woodwork, granite countertops, a smaller refrigerator, sink, microwave, and a washer and dryer. There is a marble tiled bathroom on each level.
The main kitchen contains a refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher, wine cooler, coffee maker, French press, coffee grinder, toaster, blender, pots and other cookware, chefs knives, cutting boards, cork screw, can opener, Tupperware, china and table settings for 8. There are also various cups and glasses, including unbreakable plastic.
Our cistern water is filtered with a sediment spin-down filter, a carbon-block filter, a 5 micron sediment filter, and an ultraviolet light filter.
The entire villa and grounds are for the use of the guests during their stay, and includes a paved parking area for 3 vehicles. The driveway is paved and well lit with automated dusk-to-dawn lighting. There are several outdoor areas that are ideal for sunbathing and stargazing, as well as relaxing with a good book in the solitude and listening to the birds and the sounds of the ocean. There are various books and games provided for adults and children during their stay. There is also an outdoor gas grill.
We are secluded and peaceful, yet five minutes from Hull Bay with a restaurant, bar, and live music several nights a week, if not nightly. SUPs, kayaks, and snorkel gear rentals are available nearby, as well as boating, fishing, and diving charters. Magens Bay beach is a short ten minute drive. Several award winning restauants are located close by, and the historic town of Charlotte Amalie with its shopping, museums, entertainment, and numerous restaurants is fifteen minutes away. Ferries to St. Croix, St. John, and the British Virgin Islands are located on the waterfront in Charlotte Amalie. Ferries to St. John are also located in Red Hook, on the east end of the island, about twenty minutes away. Seaplanes to St. Croix are located on the waterfront in Charlotte Amalie. Flights to Puerto Rico and beyond can be found at Cyril E. King Airport, just west of downtown Charlotte Amalie.
I can be as involved or uninvolved as you would like during your stay. I can meet you at the airport, lead you to the property, and give you a house orientation, as well as provide recommendations for activities and local restaurants. Island tours are also available. Provisioning for your stay can be provided for a 25% stocking fee.

About the host
Hosted by mary stiehler

I grew up on St. Thomas, within the French community on the Northside. I got a degree as a Geologist in Boston, MA and started my career as a professional geologist in San Diego, CA. I have been working as a geologist all over the West Coast of the US, including Alaska, Hawaii, and as far east as the Mississippi (Montana, South Dakota, Texas, New Orleans, . . .), as well as working at here at home as a Professional Geologist. I relocated to San Francisco, and then Seattle, where I lived for over 20 years, all the while coming back home to work and visit family.
I recently relocated back home permanently, and have been re-immersing myself back in island life. Joining the Gypsy Troupe, one of St. Thomas' oldest Carnival Troupes, has made the transition very easy, fun, and rich!

Why they chose this property
It is very peaceful and quiet here. Only the ocean, the birds, the lizards, and you!
