About this property
Peaceful Peak District Retreat in the heart of the White Peak
Located high above the Wye Valley in the heart of the Peak District, this fully modernised 19th century mill worker's cottage is surrounded by acres of White Peak farmland.
Up here the weather is sometimes exhilaratingly wild, but so are the stunning views over Miller’s Dale. On calmer days hear larks and curlews in the surrounding fields and swallows chattering on the windowsills. Walk straight from the door into a landscape rich in wildflowers, birds, geology and history.
Self contained, self catering accommodation over 3 floors. 3 New Houses comfortably sleeps 4 and can sleep up to 6 if the sofa bed is used. Please note that if all three bedrooms are used there is a £40 per stay surcharge. Please let us know when booking.
Bedroom 1 on the first floor has a double bed, wardrobes and drawers and an en suite shower room with WC.
Bedroom 2 on the top floor has two single beds, wardrobe and drawers. It is served by a separate shower-room.
Bedroom 3 on the first floor has a double sofa bed and can be used as an additional sitting room (please let us know if you want to use the sofa bed).
There is space in the bedrooms to put up a travel cot which you are welcome to bring. We have a baby bath and highchair.
The kitchen is well equipped including a washing machine and dishwasher. We now have a small fridge/freezer. There is a small conservatory/large porch which is great for sitting in to eat on a sunny day and also use for storing muddy boots or drying washing.
The sitting/dining room has 2 sofas, dining table seating 4/5 and TV so guests can enjoy a cosy evening around the wood burning stove.
All rooms are heated with electric night storage heaters.
Electricity, Logs, Bedlinen (duvets) and Towels are included in the rental. A basic stock of essentials (tea, coffee, milk and sugar, condiments, dishwasher tablets, toilet rolls etc) will be provided on arrival.
Outside a paved garden overlooks open fields (garden furniture is available).
Parking is available for one car in the courtyard next door at the owners ’ house, a second car can be parked in front of No 3. Bicycles can be stored in the owners’ garage.
Please note there are no toilet or sleeping facilities on the ground floor and the stairs are steep and narrow.
3 New Houses is isolated being approximately 1 mile in each direction from the small villages of Cressbrook and Litton. Be prepared for quiet! We do ask that our guests are mindful of our neighbours with regard to noise and in particular to ensure that they don't park in front of our neighbour's house.
Please let us know if you need to park more than 2 cars (we only really have space for a maximum of 3)
