About Linda Laughlin
I have 2 beautiful daughters! Amelia and Grace! We currently live just around the bay in Charlevoix, MI. We like to come to Harbor Springs for the 4th of July, Christmas Tree lighting ceremony and the Annual Christmas Open House.
Linda Laughlin purchased this House in 1987
Why Linda Laughlin chose Harbor Springs
My Grandpa built this house back in the 50's. It's been in the family the whole time. I bought this house when I was 20 years old. In 2001, I had to move to Charlevoix for work, I didn't want to sell the house. I decided to turn it into a vacation rental. I don't have a lot of money. I am not trying to 'make' money off of it. I just need it to pay for itself in order to keep it! I like to keep the price down so EVERYONE can enjoy Harbor Springs! Although Harbor Springs is considered a destination for the wealthy, we'd like to keep it affordable so average people can vacation too! My house is nothing 'fancy'! Keep that in mind as you drive past all the big, fancy houses on Main Street! However, the house is very comfortable, clean and in a spectacular location.
What makes this House unique
One of the main 'unique benefits' or our house is, WE ALLOW ANIMALS! However, our location is everything! Our house is located just 2 blocks from down town. Located behind the Holy Childhood Church, you can faintly hear the church bells in the morning! Close enough to town to walk to dinner, church and the beach. Yet far enough out to be quiet and relaxing!

Awesome stay in Harbor Springs
Perfect cottage for our family of four to relax after days spent at the beach or exploring the area!
Room for improvement
We had a fun trip to Harbor Springs/Petoskey area but would not stay here again. It was generally clean but needed attention to the items that can easily go overlooked by owner/cleaners (such as excessive dust, cobwebs, pests). The exterior looks nothing like the decently landscaped photos (overgrowth of weeds, dirty patio and furniture). I had to clean the backyard chairs myself to sit by fire pit, complicated by water/hose being off- disappointing. Did not like family photos in house- felt like we were intruding. Couch was uncomfortable and saggy. Water was shut off at one point; owners did not answer when called but made contact with city and turned back on in 20 minutes (minor inconvenience of no fault of owner). One annoyance that protruded into the otherwise quiet neighborhood was the construction down road; felt like we should have been warned. I also didn’t like how far the kid room was from us.
If you like the cute quiet city of Harbor Springs this spot is in a great location, very easy walk to town. The cottage is starting to be surrounded by very nice high-value properties it’s unfortunate pride of ownership doesn’t shine through more.
I am sorry the house wasn’t up to your expectation. We have a cleaning people that come in between guests, I am not there, personally, to oversee it.
I was never aware of any issue with the water. Never received a call, text or email regarding it. I would have addressed it immediately.
I’ll admit The landscaping in June was not up to par....due to the cold conditions, any plants would have died. We made a conscious decision to wait until it warmed up.
I’m sorry I didn’t warn you about the construction down the road. I didn’t know it was cause for concern. I don’t know what I could have done about it either way.
You are the ONLY one that has drawn attention to the photos of my girls. Everyone else says they make it feel like a ‘home’. They are photos of them downtown, in front of stores and in the park. Nothing “personal”.
As for the distance between the bedrooms....it’s only a 972 square foot house! How far can the other bedroom be? 🤷🏼♀️😊 Technically it’s only in the other side of the wall from the other bedroom, the door happens to be a few steps away. I’m sorry, but there is nothing I can do about that!
I do take pride in offering a comfortable, clean and affordable home for guest to stay in. Again, if ANY of this had been brought to my attention DURING your stay, it would have been addressed immediately. I ask in the confirmation email, to call, text or email any questions or concerns. If I miss a call, please leave a message or text and I will respond.
We found the home true to the owners listing. We didn’t need for anything. We settled in comfortably. We enjoyed a peaceful stay full of beautiful flowers in bloom and enjoyed watching the deer move happily through the neighborhood. This says much for the area. We enjoyed our privacy and always felt safe and secure. We will return to northern Michigan and will include this property in our ‘favorites’ for a lovely get away. Thank you much*
Awesome Cozy Cottage
Very nice cozy cottage close to everything. You can walk to shopping and restaurants in Harbor Springs, yet it's so quiet and is right next to a nature preserve. The owner is very responsive and provides almost everything you need for a great stay.
Such a cute little cottage in a perfect location!!
This was our second time staying here and just loved it! We were there to go skiing at Boyne Highlands and it's just a 10/15 minute drive away. The cottage was perfect for our family of four. Had everything we needed. My husband loved going to Johann's every morning for fresh bagels, and I enjoyed my walk through the nearby neighborhood with gorgeous homes and lots of woods! Would definitely stay there again!!
Great weekend getaway
Cozy little Cottage. Great location near downtown Harbor Springs and quick drive to Nubs Nob.
Summer in Harbor is absolutely beautiful and offers a variety of golf courses, fishing, boating, shopping, dinning even a sk8 park! You can ride your bike from Harbor Springs to Charlevoix on the paved bike path that hugs the Lake Michigan coast! Winter in Harbor offers GREAT downhill and cross country skiing, snowmobile trails, snow-shoeing, sledding and ice skating. Don't miss the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, the Christmas 'Open House' on the 1st Wednesday of December!
