About this property
Boutique boat stay offering romantic accommodation in Central London.
Hello and very warm welcome.
We are very proud to present you our boat, which rates amongst the finest on London’s canals. The exterior is a traditional London narrowboat. The interior is designed by an architect in a contemporary modern style with the aim of fostering a feeling of large open space, unlike other boats, which are often small and cramped. The boat is our home; it has its own soul and you can feel it from the moment you enter. This is not your usual managed short term let, and we only make our boat available for limited number of days during the peak season.
We are docked in a very central location, just off Euston, Kings's Cross and St Pancras stations; a walking distance to Camden, Oxford Street or St Paul's cathedral. Yet the canal side provides a quiet and very rare refuge from the busy hustle of the city. Locked inside the city's nature reserve, you will not believe that you are in the middle of one of the world's busiest cities.
Inside the boat, we have a lovely fireplace that provides a warm feeling of a home. We are often asked if the boat is warm. Once the fireplace is on, the boat warms up in minutes and you will be soon opening windows. Winter on the boat thus feels like a bucolic vacation in an alpine cabin.
We have a large double bed with a very thick and comfortable mattress where you will wake up to a romantic view of the canal. Our bathroom has a Victorian style cast iron bathtub for those special moments when you just want to unwind and relax.
We have a large and fully equipped kitchen with gas hob and electric oven. You will find all the cooking equipment you need to prepare any meal, so you can feel like at home. We offer complementary tea, coffee and biscuits. We have a mocha pot and a nespresso machine. We have also have a dishwasher on the boat, so you don’t have to worry about cleaning the dishes.
Our boat is fully off grid and provides one of the most eco friendly and sustainable ways to stay in London. All electricity is powered by solar panels, offering an environmentally friendly solution to your travel needs. We have 220V power sockets as standard so you can easily plug in all your electrical appliances. We also have all types of charging cables and plug converters, so you don’t need to worry if your gadget does not have a UK plug.
WHO IS THIS BOAT FOR?
Many people ask us what to expect from a boat and if staying on a boat is right for them. There is a very simple test. If you are expecting a night in a Ritz, Kempinski or a Dorchester with room service right into your bed, you will be most likely disappointed. If you are expecting a romantic night in a homely cottage-like environment, look no further, this is the perfect place for you.
LOCATION
We regularly move our boat along London’s canal network, but we always keep it within the inner city centre. We cover locations from Paddington, through Camden and Kings Cross to Islington, so check with us the location before you book. If you would like to join us on the cruise as we move our boat, let us know.
HOUSE RULES
• NO SMOKING
• NO PETS (boats can be dangerous for pets who are not used to living on water)
• NO PARTIES
• NO CANDLES (or other fire hazard)
CHECK IN/OUT
Standard check-in is between 12:00 and 16:00. We welcome our guests in person and give them a tour of our boat so they know how all the boat appliances work.
Standard check-out is before 10:00. As the boat is fully off grid, we kindly ask our guests to turn off all electric appliances before they leave, so the batteries will not drain completely.
Early check-in is possible if we don't have any previous guests. Late check in and late checkout are possible, whenever we can accommodate it, but this has to be agreed in advance.
OTHER
Finally, this is our home. We only let it out a couple times a year when we are not in London. Whilst we are very excited to share our boat with you, please treat it with respect as if it was your own home.
LONGER STAY? SHORTER STAY? HERE ARE THE DETAILS
We offer a highly ecological and sustainable way to stay in London. We are also fully off grid. All the power used on the boat is self generated through solar and wind. Our water is stored in a high capacity tank - and this comes with its own limitation; we can not accept bookings longer than 10-12 days (you would simply run out of water). This can be negotiated(depending on how many people stay on boat), but you would have to contact us in advance.

Check-out instructions
The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Turn off the lights
Turn off the fridge and the inverter (the big blue Victron box), if used.
Leave the keys on the table. Remember, once you exit and close the front door, there is no way to get back inside, so make sure you have everything with you before leaving.
Zip up the canopy flap as you leave. That’s to protect the stern from rain
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Why they chose this property
I have been boating for 9 years now and have completely fallen in love with the life on London’s canals. It’s a completely different and unique way of experiencing London that nothing else can even compare to.
It is my pleasure to be able to offer this experience of living on a traditional British narrowboat to others. Whilst I am new to Vrbo, I have been hosting for over two years now and my guests always leave five star review.

What makes this property unique
London, a busy metropolis of 7 plus million people, comparable only to New York. And yet when you descent to the canal side, an idyllic tranquility awaits you. Silent island of natural reserve where you will be woken up every morning by ducks, coots, geese and majestic swans. This place has it all. I have fallen in love with it, and I promise you will too.
