The town is picturesquely situated in the Innerste Valley and winds its way around the Gallenberg, on whose summit stands the Maria Magdalenen Bergkirche (St. Mary Magdalene Church). Enjoy the magnificent view and the wonderful location directly on the babbling Spiegeltalgraben stream, surrounded by mountains and hills, and right next to Wildemann's spa gardens. Here you will find peace and relaxation on walks and hikes through the region's extensive forests. The town's ideal location on the Harz High Road allows for quick and easy access to a variety of attractive sights and recreational facilities throughout the Harz Mountains: the Iberg Stalactite Cave, the Clock Museum, the Mining Museum, the WeltWald (World Forest), Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Bad Lauterberg, Braunlage, Wernigerode, and much more.
