About this property
Weekemoor - a house that sleeps 8 guests in 4 bedrooms
Trundle over a cattle grid, wend up the drive past the ancient oak, arrive at Weekemoor, and feel the pressures of life lift from your shoulders. Within the grounds, you'll discover a winding path; follow your feet and uncover charming private river access and a pebbly beach for dipping and wallowing, dotted with pretty outdoor furniture - perfect for pooh-stick throwing, novel reading, elderflower sipping, and even a spot of fishing. Weekemoor has private fishing rights, so little ones can learn to catch a salmon, if they're lucky!
Inside, Weekemoor is known as the "Weaver Green house," with an easy elegance about the place, filled with soft woven textiles and beautiful cool colours. Honest, tactile materials set the tone at this refined Devon home; Weaver Green homewares are made from millions of plastic bottles, turning them into a beautiful soft yarn that's hand-loomed. Everything Weaver Green has helped prevent hundreds of single-use plastic bottles from ending up in the ground or floating in the ocean. The sitting room has squashy sofas and a roaring wood-burning stove. The house has a breezy disposition; it is a calm, soothing, and relaxing place. There's a fully equipped kitchen for a self-contained getaway with honest creature comforts: a Smeg range cooker, huge American fridge freezer, and double doors opening to an utterly magical large alfresco dining area beneath the wisteria and sunshine.
Night-time at Weekemoor unveils a celestial spectacle, drawing the day to a close with a cosmos untouched by artificial glare. This is a place where you sleep deeply. All four bedrooms have large cocooning beds (all with super-king-sized zip-and-link beds for flexible sleeping arrangements). Weekemoor promises a restful, dark, and quiet night after jam-packed days exploring the nearby beaches, rambling the coastline, and indulging in languid picnics. Two of the four bedrooms are situated on the ground floor, so those less able to climb stairs or teens craving privacy will be catered for. They share a beautiful marble bathroom with a deep bathtub and fluffy towels. One of these ground-floor bedrooms has beautiful garden views and access to the terrace beyond. Upstairs are two utterly beautiful and spacious bedrooms, designed to feel cool in summer and cosy in winter - each with their own ensuite.
Weekemoor's private drive and spacious car park offer ample room for multiple vehicles. This is a place where everyone can gather and come and go as they please. There is a genuine sense of remoteness, whilst also being a short drive to some of South Devon's "best bits". The neighbouring wild moorland of Dartmoor promises a feeling of being thoroughly re-wilded. Nearby Dartmouth and it's sensational array of restaurants, Dittisham and it's short ferry ride to Agatha Christie's beautiful home, Salcombe and it's boating opportunities, and the picturesque little villages left off the tourist map, but well worth discovering.
