Welcome to the lake! We have the ultimate family vacation destination in SE Wisconsin. If you are a family of 4-6, looking for a great, relaxing, low-tech vacation location, we hope you'll think about staying at our place.
Located in Racine, Wisconsin, on the shores of scenic Lake Michigan. Right across the street from North Beach, a top-4 freshwater beach in the Midwest, according to USA Today. This three-bedroom home originally built in 1837 has a lot of character and charm. Originally the Bucket of Blood Tavern on Main Street, the building was moved to Michigan Blvd in the late 1800s and turned into a residence by a British Naval Captain. Some say Abe Lincoln may have visited while it was a tavern, believe it or not!
The building has been renovated many times since then, but still retains some old features, like the (now decorative) wood burning stove and chimney in the living room - and a creepy basement if you're into that sort of thing. Otherwise, the home has been completely modernized and is very comfortable for groups of up to 6 people. We keep it low-tech, so there is no television screen, but we do have Wi-Fi if you bring your own devices, and there are plenty of games and books to have some good old-fashioned family fun time.
Three bedrooms with comfortable sleeping for six, includes one queen, one full, and a twin daybed with trundle. The views are stunning - you can enjoy lake views from the front porch and upper deck off the master bedroom. It is amazing to relax outside or in for a few days. We love this home and wanted to make it available for a select few to discover our part of Wisconsin.
We are located 4 short blocks from the Racine Zoo. A quaint, family friendly, very clean, social gathering spot. Also on the shores of Lake Michigan, it is the location of the Animal Crackers concert series, bi-weekly Wednesday night free music performances during the summer. It is also the site of the Annual Car, Truck and Bike Show.
Spend a few days or a summer week lounging on the beach during the day, letting the kids play on the life-guarded beach. Get out on the water with your boat or take a fishing excursion out on the lake. Bring your bikes to ride along the lakefront bike path and check out some live music down at the beach Oasis.
For baseball fans, we are within 30 miles of Miller Park and only 75 miles to Wrigley Field in Chicago. Either one is a short day trip. In the evenings you can explore the nearby local restaurants and several new and established brewpubs. We can provide suggestions and let you know about our favorite spots.
This is our second home and we enjoy sharing with family and friends. Strict occupancy limit applies. We do not allow parties which would harm the property and irritate the neighbors. If you are a responsible adult with a family and want to enjoy this property, we'll welcome you. Please send me an email with any questions, and I'll respond promptly.
