Large penthouse apartment one line back from beach with large balcony and solarium in a small gated complex. A two minute walk to the beach in the secluded bay of El Calon, a small village about 5 km from St. Juan de Terreros.

The beach rarely has more than a few people sunbathing or walking their dog. It is a mix of rock pools and sand stretches with scenic walks along the cliffs and secluded alcoves for private sunbathing.

The penthouse apartment includes a large terrace and spacious solarium with sun loungers, teak dining set, swing sofa and barbecue. Interior includes a tasteful master (king) and guest (twin) bedrooms and bathroom (shower/bath). Sleeps 5 with an additional fold-up bed. Large, airy lounge/diner with Internet and flat-screen TV. Kitchen includes oven/grill/hob, microwave, fridge-freezer & washing machine & coffee machine. Landscaped courtyard and gardens with private community pool. Free parking.

El Calon beach bar serves meals and Sunday barbecue. Shopping and restaurants are 10 minutes by car. Airports are one hour by car from either Murcia International or Almeria on new motorways. Alicante airport is 2 hours north of El Calon.

El Calon is a child and pet friendly bay on the unspoiled Almeria coast between St. Juan de Terreros and Villaricos. Hottest and driest climate in Spain guarantees year-round sun. Desert Springs and Val d’Este golf courses, fishing village of Garrucha, whitewashed Mojacar & lively night life nearby. Stunning Cabo de Gata National Park, Sorbas craft village, Tabernas (Spaghetti western film set), Granada and historic Cartegena and Murcia make great day trips.

Beach and golf: The area is perfect for those who want a relaxing beach, walking and/or golf holiday. Desert Springs in Palomares is Europe's only desert golf course and one of Andalucia's most prestigious, is approx 20 minutes from the apartment. There are several other major course in the area including Val d'Este near Vera and Aguilon Golf in St Juan de Terreros 10 minutes away.

Restaurants: Although El Calon in small and secluded, there is a lively beach bar with great food and close by there is a wide range of fish, Spanish and other themed bars and restaurants in both San Juan de Terreros (5 minutes), Villaricos harbour (10 minutes), Garrucha and Mojacar (15-20 minutes). Garrucha fishing village boasts great seafood, Mojacar Playa has dozens of tapas bars and beach side restaurants and Old Mojacar, a quaint white village in the hills, is loaded with authentic Spanish restaurants, bars and other tourist attractions.

Activities: Vera's famous Water Park is close by and fun for the whole family. There is also horse riding in the Almanzora Valley, hill walking , hiking, cycling (via special cycling track) and an extensive range of water sports - including an informal sailing club in Mojacar Playa. Those interested in culture will find the historical architecture, ruins and museums of Almeria and Cartegena. Closer to home is the castle of San Juan de Terreros. The Saturday markets in Vera, Villaricos and St. Juan are the place to buy bargain produce, fashion and local crafts. In the summer there is a wide range of outdoor concerts, art exhibitions, theatre and ferias.

Appartement très agréable et spacieux avec une superbe vue sur la mer La petite résidence est très calme et bien entretenue La mer est a 2 minutes a pied. Un petit restaurant à 2 minutes propose des bons plats locaux à des prix très bon marché. Un petite supérette à San Juan de los terreros est à 5 minutes en voiture Aguilas est à 25 minutes on y trouve pleins de commerces et des boutiques. Le marché samedi matin est super Un très agréable séjour en famille

Information about the apartment, the information about the location and the flat were inacurate
info about how to get there, the access to the flat was incomplete, not accurate (old pics of the 'rebuild' entrance). After reservation, after payment of the rent, we received a message that the cleaning was extra and an extra sum had to be paid. Because I didn't want to search for another place, I paid. I protested about the unexpected extra amount, to no avail. When we arrived, 't was clear that wrong info was given. The flat was superfluous' clean'. Dirt under the carpet (literally). Pans needed a good scrub (deposits) on the bottom. Glasses with stains. We wanted to clean the floor, but the vacuum cleaner was so damaged that it didn't work. We cleaned up with a bucket of water and Spanish mob. Contacted the owner about the problems, but no action was taken. But when we left, some 'controler' came to check if we left the place undamaged and complete! Why was he not sent before? I even had to flush the bath tub drain (90% clogged), polish the ceramic cooking plate (burned on deposits), empty the 95% dust container of the vacuum cleaner (dust, hairs, mold, dog droppings), a smelling mess! There is too much that went wrong..! But the rocky beach is super. Owner, if you get your house in a better condition (more checking the situation), you will have a great place! From our experience: not worth a 2nd try. Little respect for customers, no idea how to run this 'business'. Just business and no care.

Nous avons séjourné une semaine fin juin dans la propriété d'Elaine. L'appartement est grand et très bien équipé, avec 2 terrasses magnifiques. Très agréable à vivre. La plage d'en face est propre, avec surveillance en été. Nous n'étions pas en période de grande affluence mais je pense que El Calón est un endroit calme. À savoir par contre qu'il faut utiliser la voiture assez souvent car aucun magasin, mais tout sous la main à 5 ou 15 mn. La région est de toutes façons magnifique à visiter, beaucoup de criques cachées qui valent la peine d'être visitées. Idéal pour le snorkel. Un très agréable séjour à répéter.

El Calon benefits from a semi-arid micro climate so it is sunny and dry when rainy elsewhere on the coast. But it also has the cooling breeze coming off the sea. There is nothing quite as sweet as a morning coffee on the terrace watching the sun comes up. Close your eyes and listen to the waves only a few meters away and hear the birds as they swoop overhead. feel the sun on your face, savour the quiet of this small secluded bay. Perfect for those needed a bit of 'me' time away from the hurley-burley.

What makes this property unique

All the benefits of a beach holiday without the crowds. Great for kids who like to paddle in the sea and explore among the rock pools while you kick back in your beach chair and dig your toes in the sand. Then a two-minute walk back to the apartment for lunch!
