Simplicity and super savings for your summertime getaway!

Studio in our home with private entrance in cute, classic cottage in the heart of kill devil hills on the outer banks! Walking distance to the beach , movie theater and avalon fishing pier and only four short blocks to albemarle sound. Very close to Wright's Brothers national memorial. Less than a mile to grocery store and shopping.
A/C, microwave,small fridge, towels and wi-fi provided. Full size bed with memory foam mattress, shared bathroom. No need to climb stairs! Nothing fancy, not handicap accessible. It’s the classic/vintage/retro outer banks style cottage!
Does not have private bathroom- you must enter main house to access it.

Simple and Clean

This was perfect for a weekend getaway for my wife and I. The OBX has a lot of different activities many of which are located within a short 10 to 20 minute drive from where this room is located. Above all, the hosts truly made the experience a wonderful time and were very knowledgeable about the area. This is definitely a great place for those just looking for a quiet place to stay while they explore all that the OBX has to offer.

Sufficient.

The room was sufficient for my purposes but was not great. The mattress on the pull out could use a topper to make it more comfortable, the A/C unit worked but didn’t cool the room completely, and there was a smell of cigarettes in the air. I only stayed the night and didn’t use the bathroom much as I had other accommodations else where for during the day.

Central location

Located right in the middle of the outer banks!! Two of the nicest people you'll meet. Yes it was a shared bathroom but my wife and I never had an issue or had to wait at all. We explored from Currituck to Hatteras and this was a great location to do what we did.

Holiday weekend

The property exceeds expectations. The host and her family make you feel welcome and are very accommodating. Location is great, only a few blocks to the sound and a few blocks to the beach. Lots of restaurants and bars close to the location. Not far to boat rentals and jet ski rental places. The shared bathroom was a concern for me when we rented, but it was never an issue during our stay. Elsa and Shelia are wonderful people. The neighborhood is very quiet and was surprisingly quiet for a holiday weekend. Would definitely stay again!!! Thank you Elsa and Shelia

A good staying for the night!

It was clean, the owner was really friendly and we don’t have any trouble with the use of the bathroom (It was always free when we wanted to use it). All in all a good stay for the night!

I will be back

I actually had a great time, love the neighborhood and the closeness to the beach and all the necessities. And the property manager had kept in constant contact with me and made sure that my stay was a great one. Elsa is a great conversationalist. I will definitely try to make sure I go back.

Impromptu weekend at the beach

We had a great time at the Outer Banks using this cute, family run cottage as our base of operations. The room had everything we needed: comfy bed, clean linens, refrigerator, microwave, coffeepot, air-conditioner, easy chair and small dining table and chairs. Sheila and her mother were helpful offering us a beach chair for our use and taking down our towels off the line when the sun went down. The little seating area outside was a nice addition. Even though it was a shared bathroom, I never encountered a time I needed to use it and it was occupied. Be clear, if you want 4-5-star accommodations, this isn't it. But it certainly met our needs. My only problem was with VRBO. On the way to Kill Devil Hills I realized I'd never been given an address for the property - just online contact for Sheila. I spent a frantic hour or so trying to get hold of a live person at VRBO to find the information. Luckily Sheila messaged about two hours before our arrival that contained her phone number.

This was a fantastic experience!

The house is located directly between the beach and the sound (which has great sunsets!). The room is clean and bright — lots of natural light — and Sheila is friendly and has great suggestions about things to do and places to eat. We have loved our experience here!

Studio on first floor, quiet neighborhood centrally located. Only disadvantage as shared bathroom but owners made it easy to share. Very affordable, large froom with outside entrance sand good parking. Owners we ny T out of their way to make it leasant. Would recommend to friendsand family!! Would go back happily return!!

Perfect cozy stay

We loved the room and location. Shelia and Elsa are wonderful hosts. They were very polite, friendly and helpful. Thanks so much for the small bottle of wine and for hosting us. We will definitely be back again. Loved having a private entrance and sharing the bathroom was never an issue! It was nice to have the deck and porch/Patio for outside use as well. It was perfect for our little trip away!

SUNPORCH BEDROOM

I liked my stay there. My favorite part was the very reasonable price. It was very close to the beach & restaurants. I have been a host for 3 years, 1st time as a guest. After reading reviews, I took my own bed topper, sheets, blankets & pillows. So we were very comfy. AC worked great. I also took cleaner and wiped things down. I also took a power surge & was glad I did. Receptacles were at a minimum.The bathroom was nice and clean and was a short walk through the living/kitchen area and no one was ever around. Met the owner once. Neighbor gets very quiet around dark. I went out to the car for something and when I slammed the door shut, it set off the neighbors dog. When I had to go out again, I tiptoed and closed the door slowly. That is when I realized how quiet it was. So very residential. All in all, I teeter between 3&4 star. I gave her a 3 because, I tried to call owner's daughter, Sheila about 5 days prior, then 3 days & then a text or 2. I never heard from her until around 4pm on day of arrival and then found out check in procedure. I did like self check in!!!!

Awesome!!

Shelia, the home owner, was awesome! Accommodations we’re perfect for what we needed the home for. We ended up picking up a few more guests to come along with us on a week long trip to the Outer Banks. Because of the last minute additions and previous rental arrangements not being able to accommodate our additional guest we scrambled to find a place for 2. Shelias was literally the only place available in the area and it worked out perfect. The price was awesome as well. Thanks again.

Great place to lay your head!

Owners were very friendly and accommodating to our situation. Room was clean and cool with the potential to accommodate up to 4 people. Owners provided all linens which was a big help. We had to share their bathroom for showers and such but it wasn’t an issue. We spent our days and evenings enjoying the OBX and their location was in a quiet residential area as compared to the hustle and bustle of the main drag. They have “a work in progress” and I see the potential for this big corner lot property. Would definitely entertain the idea of going back.:)
