Perfect for Families, Couples and Pets This charming beach house is a new LISTING/ REMODEL that is 3 blocks from the beach. We have 6 beds and accommodate 10 people. Park in the neighborhood with a shared swimming pool. For the fishermen there is a boat dock around the corner. Jamaica Beach is an close to many of Galveston's favorite attractions. Twenty minutes from Schliterbahn, and Pleasure Pier. We have our own police/fire department, grocery store, liquor store, and two churches. This property was remoldeled to cater to families or groups that might want a little separation. The upstairs has two nice size rooms with a queen bed in each and and a full bathroom. The kitchen is an Island with granite table counter tops. The living area is open concept and real cozy with a very comfortable leather sofa.
The outside deck is great place to relax and catch the gulf breeze and barbecue on the gas grill.
The Downstairs area has a separate entrance from the upstairs. There are 2 bedrooms with bunk beds in each room (one full-size and 1 twin). There is a TV in one of the bedrooms with DVD player. Downstairs also has a full bath and a kitchenette with coffee pot and microwave.
Downstairs also has an extra bonus of additional area with patio furniture to visit and hang out.

Great Beach House

We really enjoyed our stay at this house. It’s nice that there are two bedrooms both upstairs and downstairs, and that there is a fenced in yard in the event that you bring your dog(s). However, the kitchen supplies (pots/pans, knives, Tupperware’s, etc.) were not very up to par. If you’re eating out every night this won’t affect you, but if you plan on cooking or trying to pack snacks for the beach, just a friendly heads up. Overall though, we really enjoyed our stay and the nice location. I’d definitely recommend this house and we’d return.

Should Have Been Cleaner

This is a lovely house in a quite neighborhood. But the cleaning fee I paid should have ensured we had a clean house. We did not. The downstairs rooms had a moldy, moist smell. There were moisture absorbing packets and buckets under the beds and on a shelf, all within reach of children. There were paint cans being stored on a low shelf in the common space which could contribute to the unbearable odors. We went out and bought a dehumidifier for while we were there. When I first opened the door to this space, the smell was suffocating. We were unable to sleep in there the first night. When I asked the owner about it, she said she didn't smell anything. Hmm... Upstairs, the A/C air intake vent was covered in dust, and the filter was caked with dirt/dust. It did not appear to have been changed for quite some time. When we lifted the nonslip mat from the tub, to take a bath, the mat was gross and the tub under it was dirty. I then checked the downstairs mat and it was also dirty. The kitchen drawers had common crumbs and debris from previous renters. We swept up pork rinds, snack bags and other debris from under the couch. The lock for the main door was nearly impossible to lock/unlock with the key. It locked fine from inside. I contacted the owner the morning of our last day and asked if we could talk in person before I left. It appears this rental is a source of retirement income, and I wanted to share my experience and suggestions so renters would want to be repeat renters. She replied yes and we agreed upon a time. I waited almost an hour past our agreed upon time and she didn't come. If these issues are addressed, this could be a nice place to stay. If not, I would not recommend this property.

I am originally from the small deep east Texas town of San Augustine. I was raised on a ranch and was a barrel racer by the age of 9. I have a great appreciation for all animals and anything outdoors. I was a high school history and psychology teacher. I quit teaching and became a serial entrepreneur. I have been self employed for most of my adult life. It seems that I really like to sell things. Some of my businesses consisted of selling imprinted sportswear to schools as well as hand painted wall murals. For the last five years, I have taught onsite CPR and First Aid to company employees and schools. I now live in Galveston, Texas and enjoy entertaining and the beauty of the Gulf Coast. My mantra for life is "you reap what you sow" and "don't sweat the small stuff". I think VRBO is the best concept and a great way to experience the local culture.

Why they chose this property

Great location 3 blocks walking distance from the beach. It sleeps 10 people and has been recently remodeled and there is a lot of outside space to hang out.

We also offer convenient golf cart rental and have it right there when you arrive. No need to schedule delivery etc.

What makes this property unique

Your host Janet is also in Jamaica beach and can respond to any issues that guest may have immediately. That's a big deal if there is a problem of any kind.
