About this property

Riverside Cabins in the Klamath Mountains

Just inland from the Redwood Coast lies the Klamath Region - a little-known corner of Northern California with winding rivers, granite canyons, majestic mountains and miles of hiking trails waiting to be explored. Our riverside cabins are a stones throw from the Klamath, with private swimming, a peaceful setting and lots of good fishing access. Enjoy the view of the river from your private deck and sleep with your door open to the sounds of the river. The warm, sunny interior of the Klamath offers an alternative to the cool and foggy Redwood Coast, and you'll be far from the crowds. Our redwood, pet friendly cabins come with a full kitchen & linens and a deck that looks over the river. We can arrange whitewater rafting trips, point you in the direction of the best hiking, or you can just relax by the river and explore on your own to see what you find. You won't be disappointed.

The Wild and Scenic Klamath River, and its majestic system of tributary rivers and creeks, flows through the renowned Klamath/Siskiyou mountains. From blue herons to bald eagles, river otter to deer, this wilderness sustains a wide variety of wildlife. Plant lovers will find the greatest diversity of plant species in the continental United States along with over 280 endemic species. Orleans is home of the Orleans Ranger Station which offers guidebooks and maps to abundant hiking, bicycling and other outdoor recreational activities in the area. The mountainous terrain rewards hikers and bicyclists with spectacular scenic views. There are easily accessible hiking opportunities of all levels.

Excellent remote getaway
Although we only stayed one night, this would be a great location to relax and unplug for a longer visit. The cabin has all the necessities to prepare your meals and ample space in the kitchen/dining/living room to enjoy it with your family. A nice porch overlooks the river and the grounds are quite peaceful. The main office has a lot of books and interesting photos.

About the host

We have been at Sandy Bar Ranch since 1992 and love the mountains and rivers of the Klamath. We love farming and gardening and are proud to serve on both the staff and board of directors of the Mid Klamath Watershed Council. Since 2001, the Mid Klamath Watershed Council (MKWC) has been working to restore the threatened Klamath River in Northern California and the upslope habitats upon which the river depends.

Why they chose this property

Our Klamath River vacation cabins come with a full kitchen & linens, private bedroom with a queen bed, bathroom and a deck that looks over the Klamath River. The bedroom sleeps two, and there are 2 side bunks in the common kitchen/living room area. (Cabin 6 has a second bedroom with a queen bed.) It's a short walk down a path to our private sandy beach and swimming hole located across from Pearch Creek, a pristine mountain stream that can be heard from the cabin decks. Our pet friendly lodging is open to all four-leggeds, as long as they can behave around guests and our chickens!

What makes this property unique

Sandy Bar Ranch is off the beaten path, in a beautiful corner of the world. This is one of the few remaining places with no cell service; we invite you to take full advantage of this, relax and unplug during your visit. Our office is equipped with WIFI and a land line for your use, but neither of these are available in your cabin. You can contact the outside world when you want, and we can pass phone messages to you, but in your cabin the main thing you’ll hear is the river.
