Stunning Views & Fantastic Location
The photos of the views from this property do not do it justice. Be sure to watch the sunrise, it is unbelievable! The house is very spacious, easy accessibly from the highway, a quick drive to the grocery store, and surrounded by so many things to do. We escaped to this home during COVID-19 quarantine and loved working out of John's office! John has placed instructions/advice for everything all over the house which is very helpful. Cannot recommend this place enough.
Beautiful home, perfect for relaxation and inspiring creativity. Property well cared and full of positive energy. The views of the mountains and nature from the property are breathtaking. I cannot wait to return!
My favorite mountain getaway !
This is always a great experience at this home. No where else I've stayed do I get so much home , luxury, and view for the money.
Can't wait to go back again.
I cant say enough about this home or the experience. Ive stayed many places in the north Carolina mountains. None match this place for comfort, cleanliness, or the ease of access.
The view is among the best, its well equipped, and john is easy to deal with .
This is the place i always come back to !
The house and property are absolutely beautiful! Our only disappointment was the hot tub was broken and we were never notified.
This was not a fair critique because the renter did not request the hot tub. The hot tub is a 125/week option that is clearly stated on the VRBO website multiple times and in the rental agreement. It’s true that the hot tub was not available because we are waiting on a replacement part, but I saw no reason to notify the renter because they did not request the hot tub.
This actually points to an issue with the VRBO and HomeAway websites. They do not have a provision for optional services, such as a hot tub. In addition, they twist the owner’s arm into offering instant bookings, which minimizes the communication between owner and renter. I feel sorry that the renter was unaware the hot tub was not part of the basic rental fee, but I did everything I could think of to make renters aware the hot tub is an option. This is done to keep the rental fee down because most renters do not want to use the hot tub.
About John McLellan
We purchased the land in the mid 70's and decided to build in 1998 and use it for vacationing and possible retirement. It was a labor of love and now we are enjoying it as much as we can.
John McLellan purchased this House in 1998
Why John McLellan chose Walker-In-the-Hills
We have several good friends who come to the area regularly and some who live here full time now.
What makes this House unique
It's easy to say, but not so easy to find; great view and easy access. Only 1.5 miles off the main road and paved all the way. You drive into a covered area and in three pases you ate standing at the door. Most people marvel at the quality of construction and attention to detail. Please visit the owner's website for lot's more information and photos.
