About this property

Comfortable, safe, quiet one bedroom granny flat; walk to shops and buses

Quiet location on Sydney's leafy North Shore (safest district in Sydney). 500m to major shopping centre and frequent bus services: Gordon Station (8 minutes ride then 28 minutes by train to Sydney CBD), Macquarie University, Belrose 'Austlink' Industrial Park, Mona Vale (beach) and City Express.

Full modern kitchen, bathroom/laundry (washing machine, dryer, drying rack, heated towel rail) and lounge-dining room. King size double bed (can be separated into twin singles) plus lounge sofa bed. Pool.

We're keen travellers - UK, Europe, USA, Japan and of course Australia and have stayed at numerous self-catering holiday lets so we understand what is needed to make your stay comfortable and provide basics like tea, coffee, milk and condiments. (and chocolates!)

If you're arriving in Sydney early in the morning, we might be able to give you early access - please ask.

We live on the main level - the apartment is underneath at ground level. There is double insulation between our floor and the ceiling of the apartment but you might hear an occasional floorboard squeak or muffled voices in the living area. Rest assured you'll get a quiet, good night's sleep!

Weekly cleaning and towel/linen changed weekly for longer term guests.

We enjoy peace and quiet and hope you do too. Please be quiet outside the apartment after 10pm and no loud music - for our benefit and our neighbours.
We ask for 'shoes off' inside the apartment. We provide slippers if you request. The vestibule has a chair where you can remove or put on shoes.
After using shower please do a quick squeegee of the walls. As hot water is heated electrically on demand please turn off when not required.

Generous hosts
We didn't expect much, really, because on previous stays with other hosts they made you buy your own toilet rolls! But Guy and Sandra not only supplied toilet rolls for our whole stay, they cleaned the apartment, replaced the sheets, made the bed, and baked us homemade cookies! They also left us a welcome fruit basket. We would definitely stay with them again if they'd have us. We really appreciate Guy's and Sandra''s kindness and generosity.

Excellent accommodation.
Well equipped apartment. Very modern and clean. Close to St Ives Shopping village. Our hosts were helpful and great. They went out of their way to accommodate us. Really quite perfect.

We're a family of 4 - my wife and young adult twins,. We also have a guinea pig, a rabbit and a friendly dog who lives in the backyard (so you won't have direct contact with him unless you want to). My wife is an early childhood educator and I'm a retired pastor having had earlier careers in public life and as a CEO. I now provide spiritual accompaniment to people at a nearby retreat centre. So what is the statue all about in the photo? Well we're huge "Dad's Army" fans - the evergreen UK BBC comedy series. The statue is of lead character, Captain Mainwaring. It resides in Thetford Norfolk where the series was filmed - we lived there in 2011:)

Why they chose this property

We delight in living near a National Park where you can see wallabies. Our garden hosts beautiful bird life: Rainbow Lorikeets, Cockatoos, Magpies, Whipbirds, Currawongs, Rosellas, King Parrots, Kookaburras etc. Waking up to bird calls is wonderful.

What makes this property unique

This granny flat, which we built in 2018, is for friends and family when visiting us and for people like you. One day my wife and I might move in so one of our children can live with their family upstairs. So it's been finished to a high spec for us! As it's part of our house (Ground floor - we live on the level above) we're on site to help you enjoy your stay and happy to provide tourist information for those on vacation.
