THE TINY HOUSE:
** Based on feedback, we've added & modified various features over the past year to improve your stay! Window a/c unit just added for summer 2021!
This tiny home was custom built in 2019. With various wood finishes and higher end fixtures, it mixes rustic with luxury. We started Big Door Tinys to custom build and sell tiny homes. We decided to make this one available to guests while we build other tiny houses. In order to have water and electricity, it is near our shop, which is along a dirt road that accesses about 10 other homes. There is mild traffic in the summer, even less in the winter. Deer, turkeys, and marmots are regulars!
We built this tiny to live in, so it has a large kitchen and bath. We love the windows and light, and clever use of each nook and cranny. It also has all the amenities of a real house other than a flush toilet (has composting toilet), laundry, and dishwasher.
Kitchen has 4-burner stove, oven, full-size fridge, farm-style sink, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, plates, cups, flatware, pots and pans.
Dining area has table for two that can be used as desk or dining table, or can be folded down to allow for more gathering space.
Great room has couch that can be converted into a bed that is 67" long (great for kids and shorter adults). Flat screen TV that can be stowed or pulled out. There is no cable, so guests will need to bring a device to hook up with HDMI. There is wifi so internet streaming is an option.
Spacious full-size bathroom has vessel sink, full-size shower with rainfall shower head, no-odor composting toilet, and full size closet.
Storage stairs lead to a sleeping loft with queen size bed, night stands, and room for personal items.
Stocked with outdoor bistro table and two chairs. More seating available upon request. Ample space for outdoor activities. Ample on-site free parking. The fire pit has been removed for summer 2021 and will be available again in approximately October 2021.
We live up the hill from the tiny house. If you turn your head and squint, you might be able to see our house. We are happy to provide suggestions for the area.
We know that folks have widely varying expectations and preferences. While we can't predict them all, we will do everything we can to make your stay enjoyable. Please let us know if you have any requests or concerns. We want you to have a great experience!!
Please note the maximum duration is 14 nights. If you would like to stay longer, please message us using the "inquiry" button. Unfortunately, we do not recommend our tiny home for youngsters that are crawling or toddling (approximately ages 1 - 3).
WHAT YOU GET:
The entire tiny house is yours to enjoy. You are welcome to explore our 10+ acres and enjoy walking through the neighborhood. The tiny house is accessible by dirt road that is well-maintained. Our main home is elsewhere on the property, barely visible from the tiny house.
OTHER NOTABLES:
- The tiny house uses a composting toilet. We recently modified it so that servicing it should not be required for stays of 4 days or less. It's about as good as a composting toilet can be, but it is not a "regular" toilet.
- The water is from a well that is regularly tested and is very safe for drinking. We drink it straight from the well and love the taste. It is, however, "hard" water, so over time it leaves spots and residue on glass and metal, which you may notice in the shower and on some of the dishes.
- Due to it's location on a dirt road, during the drier months, it can get dusty after a day of having the windows open. If you stay more than a day and have the windows open, please be aware of this.
We want you to enjoy your time away from home. If any of these circumstances are an issue for you, this may not be the best option for you.
