About this property

Luxury Bed & Breakfast Home known as Colonial Gardens B & B

This beautiful home located in the historic district corridor in Williamsburg, Va., sits just a few short minutes from Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Busch Gardens/Water Country, hiking, biking, College of William & Mary and only a short drive to historic Yorktown. A gorgeous front porch overlooking the lovely front yard welcomes guests into elegant British Colonial style living spaces, made cozy and comfortable for your enjoyment. Check out the Library Suite downstairs with its full ensuite bathroom and select from a wide variety of books, games or videos to enjoy during your stay. Head upstairs to the three additional and wonderfully appointed luxury bedrooms, all with private en suite bathrooms, mini fridges, Kurig coffee pots, Brita water pitchers and complimentary coffee/tea and sodas for your stay with set up. All bedrooms feature flat screen TV’s with internet TV, dvd players, luxury mattress' and come beautifully appointed with wonderful comfortors, blankets, sheets, towels and bathrobes.

Wake up and relax over morning coffee in the sun room overlooking a beautiful moss covered back yard full of local wildlife including squirrels, birds, deer, rabbits and an occasional red fox. Then, head out to enjoy a full day of hiking, biking, sightseeing, Busch Gardens/Water Country, art museums, world class shopping and restaurants, all mere minutes away.

With a wide variety of world class restaurants so close at hand, there's no need for cooking, however, a microwave, coffee pot and mini fridge are located in the sunroom downstairs, so any leftovers may be warmed and enjoyed in the dining room or sunroom dining spaces.

This is a historic home, constructed in 1965, with bricks over 300 years old and purchased by James P. Whyte, Jr., (Dean of Marshall-Whyte School of Law at the College of William and Mary, 1969-1975). Dean Whyte purchased the bricks from a courthouse built in Williamsburg in 1720 constructed with hand-made bricks made by indentured servants brought over from England during the late 1600s through the American Revolution. Many original elements remain intact from the original home constructed on this gorgeous property. We love pets and while we would love to host them as well, it is not possible due to the sensitive nature of this historic property and the high degree of stewardship required to maintain authenticity and original elements. There are several excellent boarding facilities in close proximity to the property and recommendations can be provided on request.

The driveway has a parking capacity for 5 cars.

Additional city taxes which VRBO does not collect must be collected by us and will be requested as an additional payment in the amount of 5% plus $2 per room / night tourist tariff and a detailed description of our property rules and guidelines are provide in this listing under the appropriate tab.

Beautiful Home in Colonial Williamsburg!
This beautiful home is ideally located - easy to get to William and Mary, Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown settlement, Yorktown beach, Busch Gardens - and the many other attractions of the area! The house is lovely - the rooms are very nicely spaced from each other and allow a lot of privacy, great kitchen for cooking big meals and gorgeous back and front yard. We have had a wonderful stay!

This wonderful home was the family home for Dean James Primrose Whyte, Jr., and has operated as a bed and breakfast since Dean Whyte sold in the early 1980s. When not booked as a VRBO rental, the home operates as a fully functioning B & B. It is available as a VRBO rental during certain times of the year and with all the elements of a full house rental except the kitchen. I am a great lover of the American Revolution time period and consider it a great honor to be the steward of such an important piece of American history and sharing with all the best southern hospitality has to offer.

Why they chose this property

This home is located on the historic corridor of the City of Williamsburg and allows for privacy and seclusion, within 5 minutes of all the sites of Colonial Williamsburg and 10 minutes from Busch Gardens and historic Jamestown. Yorktown is a short 20 minute drive and bikers love to stay with us when they bike the famous Virginia Capital Trail. We have an extremely safe neighborhood and are 4 to 10 minutes from world class shopping, Williamsburg Winery, and amazing restaurants.

What makes this property unique

On over an acre of property in the city limits of Williamsburg and loads of privacy coupled with close proximity to all the attractions, William & Mary, restaurants and natural beauty that is Williamsburg!
