About this property

Florida is open for business, and so is our waterfront 2 BR, 1 BA guest home.

Florida is mostly back in business after the pandemic shutdown, beaches are open, boaters are exploring, and restaurants are all open for dining in or carryout. We take extra care cleaning Casita Bonita, our newly completed 2nd story detached studio suite, features commanding views of the canal and sunsets 365 !

Nestled amid the lush tropical foliage of the Paradise Coast of Southwest Florida, our comfy accommodations are perched high above a seemingly secluded waterway, yet centrally located between Naples, Ft. Myers, and Sanibel. Minutes away from legendary Barefoot Beach, Bonita Beach, and Lovers Key State Park, and bicycling distance to grocery shopping and fine dining.

Enjoy morning coffee or evening beverages from our lofty balcony while watching fish jump, beautiful exotic birds and butterflies, and even the occasional otter, dolphin, or manatee. Our local canal system, all connected by the Imperial River, offers miles of scenic paddling opportunities, or take a short drive with your paddlecraft to enjoy almost limitless mangroves and hidden backwaters of the 190 mile Calusa Blueway Paddle Trail.

Launch your own boat from the nearby Imperial River Boat Launch and meander up-river to tie it up at our 60' long dock, or rent a boat nearby for a day of sun-splashed adventure on our amazing local waters.

Enjoy sighting fish from the dock, throw the days catch or some steaks on the grill, and enjoy the canal front on our mini-beach with beautiful white sand for the kids.

The owner is onsite and you may occasionally see a dog or two in the backyard with them .The dogs are both very friendly but do let us know if there is an issue with pets sharing a fenced in backyard? We can make alternate arrangements so you enjoy the yard.

Great apartment but beware of the owner
The apartment was lovely. Very large open rooms, with huge windows to let in the Florida sun and ocean breezes. Large open concept kitchen and living room, bedrooms are spacious and have plenty of storage for short or long stays. Kitchen was well equipped (but don’t touch the wine bottle on the counter-it’s just for decoration). Since we stayed during covid, we cooked almost every meal had had plenty of cookware, dishes, silverware, and even oils and vinegars, plus some spices. The large slider door to the porch let in an abundance of light, and the porch has several comfortable plastic Anarondack chairs. One was broken but laid in pieces in the corner. There was an electric grill on the porch that we tried to use one night, but didn’t quite get hot enough to grill steaks. I’m sure it would be fine for hot dogs or burgers. WiFi was good, except I could not get a signal from the porch. Easy and convenient location to shopping and a 10 minute drive to the beaches. The driveway had plenty of space to park, but don’t get near the garage door, even if your space is blocked. We came home from the beach the second day, and there was another car in the driveway. I parked as close as I could, but still managed to slightly block the garage door. Minutes later the owner returned and opened the front door and yelled at me to move my car. Very friendly encounter. But there were plenty of beach towels and chairs available to use. It’s a great place to stay but don’t expect warm hospitality or welcoming graciousness from the owners. They were consistently rude during all interactions. Never offered any greeting or hospitality. About 2 hours after we left I got an email from the owner claiming we broke a chair on the porch, ruined the cuisinart coffee maker, drank a bottle of wine that was left on display on the counter in the kitchen and stole a wine opener. It was a very harsh and insulting email. Then I remembered that the owner required either a $3000 (!) damage deposit or an insurance policy be taken out. I opted for the policy. And she filed a claim for over $300 in damage and theft! So I called the insurance company and reported the fraudulent claim. 3 days later she apologized, said the “culprit had fessed up” and retracted the claim. So it’s a nice place to rent for sort or long stays, but take pictures and report any damages immediately. Don’t expect any warmth or graciousness, and beware of the owner.

Great Location - Newly built
The location is perfect. You are isolated in a quiet area with a great view from the balcony. However, you are also minutes away from great beaches and restaurants. Also easy access to grocery stores. Would recommend and stay there again! Hosts are very nice and welcoming!

A bit put off
Over all the property is lovely, spacious and great balcony. But I was a bit put off by how it was not cleaned. The bathroom was cluttered with left over toothpastes, shampoo etc, that had hair, and sticky, handles were not wiped down. Some kitchen utensils were not properly washed all the clocks were a different times. It looked like that it was quickly cleaned , rushed dusty under beds and left over t shirt from a previous renter was not removed. These items showed lack of care and did not reflect the daily price charged. The one time I brought it to the owners attention, I was dismissed by a statement that it was okay for liquid soaps to be present.

We had a great stay at this casita in SW Florida.
This casita was a very clean and well-equipped place to stay. We enjoyed the small balcony with a view of the canal every morning for coffee & every evening for wine. Host MaryAnn was easy to work with and easily accommodated a late change in dates for us. Apartment is newly updated and modern. There are quite a few stairs to get there but that was fully disclosed on listing. Conveniently located -short drives to Naples and Ft Myers. Would stay there again.

We are young-at-heart adventurers who love to travel, fly, hike, bike, scuba dive, take photos and enjoy good food.

OH, and we also enjoy long walks on the beach, spending time with our kids, grandkids, pets, and friends.

Why they chose this property

Our home is located in a fabulous and unique small neighborhood. All the neighbors know one another and pets as well, and Del Lane / Homewood Dr. are actually both private roads with a small median between. There are large open vacant lots at the end of the road on the river where we take the dogs to play, and even a small island in the river with a foot bridge, the only one of its kind we have seen in all of south FL.

What makes this property unique

The landscaped entry to Del / Homewood make it seem like a gated community, and it is indeed quiet and safe. It is quiet, and seems secluded, but less than a mile away from great shopping and restaurants, and central to many local attractions.

We can lower our boat into the water from its lift and be on the Gulf of Mexico in less than 40 minutes, and from there we can opt for a trip to the Keys or even the Bahamas by boat.
