We enjoyed the house and waiheke island. We had a great time
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at my Beach House on the Bay. I am happy to hear taht you enjoyed the home, location and views. The island truly is a special place. I welcome you back anytime.:)
We really enjoyed our stay at this beach house! A 5 minute walk down a path that leads you directly to the beach. We enjoyed our swims in the ocean and walks on the beach. Close to restaurants and shops, we would walk along the beach to the main strip - it was perfecf! House was comfortable and had everything we needed. Heed the warnings on the mosquitos by closing all doors and windows before sunset and all will be good. Absolutely loved our stay, look forward to making it back one day!
Hi- I am so glad that you enjoyed your visit to Waiheke and found beach house comfortable for your stay. Isn't the ocean path walk lovely? I welcome you back anytime!
Magical spot on Waiheke. Short walk to Oneroa village and beach yet tucked away from the crowds
We had an amazing visit here. With two adults and two kids, we had plenty of room and we really enjoyed the decks front and back to hang out - the house lives bigger than its square feet because of the decks. We had four friends over for dinner as well and still had room! We bbq'd fresh fish on the amazing grill on the deck overlooking Oneroa bay - talk about dinner and a show!
We loved how the house is set up on a sunny knoll above the Oneroa bay with a walking track in front to get down to the beach. The driveway in the back is steepish but totally passable and we only went that way when we were driving, as the front walking path is more convenient to get to the beach and village and we couldn't wait to walk around. Plus the views are an amazing reward for a bit of a hike! We also loved the smell of the wild ginger and all the plants along the walking trail. We loved walking to the village for coffee and wine as well as to the beach. Even our three-year-olds had no problems with the walk - its good exercise and we love to be outdoors and active so we didn't even have a stroller with us. Oneroa village is so cute with all sorts of great shops and coffee shops and it is very kid friendly. Don't miss the cool boat sculpture in front of the chemist shop in Oneroa village which even has wooden blocks for kids to add to the sculpture while parents sit and enjoy the view out over the bay. I love when places are so clearly catering to kids and families. The kids did not want to leave and kept asking to walk down to the beach again and again!
In terms of the sea views, this spot is wonderful: You have an oceanfront location looking down over Oneroa bay just like the photos show and in the "back" of the house the views are down over trees and vineyards to the ocean in the distance.
This house has a large lot and lots of mature landscaping - the gardens are pretty amazing with some huge specimens of a sort of agave, bamboo and all sorts of fruit trees in the back. We picked lemons for our Gin and Tonics from the lemon tree! The landscaping is really well designed to screen the houses to the left and right, so you really feel very private here, which we really enjoyed.
The house is nicely updated with a great flow. There are two bedrooms on one end and the master is on the other end so that is great if you want a bit of privacy.
My only regret is that we didn't stay here for much longer. Will hope to be back again soon. Thanks so much Dorene!
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. It is much appreciated. I am glad you and your family had a great time and enjoyed the beachhouse views, home, plants, town and local businesses. I am happy that you experienced kid friendly activities and shops. You took such care of my home and I welcome you back anytime.
Can’t wait to come back!
This house was absolutely wonderful. It is very clean, has everything you need for a long term stay and is ideally located. We did not need a car as it is a short walk to the beach and the village. Occasionally we walked to the village and hopped on a bus to take us to other beaches. The view is spectacular. I do not hesitate to recommend this home to anyone.
So glad you had a great time and got to enjoy walking to the beach and Oneroa village :)
Welcome back any time.
Ideal location and pleasant house
Driveway slightly scary as great ruts after rains! The ensure shower takes litres of wasted water to get hot why not provide a bucket to collect and use to flush toilet?
Not a house for those who do not like steep hills and steps!
Did not like the need to pay a damage waiver insurance
Grateful for late check out ahead of our long flight back
Loved the seating decks front and back to follow the sun or shade
Loved the location and enjoyed the town, vineyards and walks
I am so pleased that you loved the location, town and local businesses. We are happy to have you visit:)
Thanks for the suggestions re: the shower water.
Yes, we have had unseasonal heavy rains, thought to be due to global warming, coupled with next door construction that left the driveway rutted. I had a contractor out to install a new drain and repack the drive. Hopefully it is improved now.
It is smart to use caution on the reasonably steep driveway. Sometimes a great view requires steep driveways. I hope once you were looking out over the sea from the house made up for it and did not detract too much from your vacation. Many guests use the walking path (leaving car in drive) to visit the beach and town. It is a pretty path.
Glad you enjoyed the late checkout!
Very best wishes
Waiheke Island is known by many terms: Island of Wine, Island of Jazz, Jewel of the Hauraki Gulf... you can decide which term best applies after your vacation.
Waiheke is full of activities, from wine tasting, to boating, to a petting zoo, there is fun for the entire family!
The beach house is a spacious, light, and airy home, perched with majestic views down over Oneroa Beach and Bay.
The charming main village of Oneroa is the hub of Waiheke features numerous specialty shops, cinema, art gallery, banks, post office, cafes, bars and restaurants, with wonderful views of Oneroa Bay and the Coromandel Peninsular. The wide, white sand beach provides safe, all-tide swimming and the bay is a favourite anchorage for visiting yachts, adding to the beautiful views.
