A place we had previously stayed near Ignacio was unavailable, and we are sure glad we got a chance to stay at this darling cozy property. We were worried about being warm enough in Colorado in the snow in January, but were amazed at the warmth generated by the space and wall heaters. We loved the rustic decor and design of this historic cottage and kept finding more cool touches during our stay, from sliding barn doors to barn wood walls, wooden countertops including a bar with inlaid bits of turquoise and a corrugated metal shower stall, a whiskey barrel, and barn and country prints. The ranch was very comfortable for our stay from the king size main bedroom bed to the sun porch with huge leather chairs and footstools to watch the sunrise and gaze at the cows, and a fully stocked kitchen with everything we needed from supplies to appliances, even a crock pot and high end washer, dryer, and dishwasher. We enjoyed being close enough to Durango to visit with relatives, but far enough away to relax in comfort, peace, and quiet with views. We took advantage of some of Ignacio’s favorite places, including the wonderful Southern Ute cultural center and museum, trading post, and Farmers Fresh grocery store, as well as day trips to Wolf Creek ski resort and Pagosa Springs. Heather was responsive to our questions and requests. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, hated leaving, and hope to visit The Ranch again, maybe next time in the summer to take advantage of other local sights.
