Poor Management
The unit was pretty much as the pictures showed, just smaller than we expected, but that happens. We were advised to use lockbox nearby to gain access, that worked out OK. Nice neighborhood & building, tiny elevator (that seems to be the norm in Europe). The "bedroom" is actually an alcove/large closet. Dust balls under the bed were easily 5 inches high, tight squeeze to walk around bed. That, in itself, wouldn't have been a problem worth mentioning, except there's no air circulation in this "closet" & we arrived in Paris with almost 100 degree F temperatures. ONE small tabletop fan was provided. There is a large window but no cross ventilation. Juan, the property manager advised to contact him if we needed anything. With 3 of us in this space, we asked for another fan & were told another fan would "bankrupt" them & added that we had a balcony which others didn't. The balcony was in full sun all day, no one in their right mind would go out onto it during a heat wave. The Paris ambulances were going night & day with people dropping dead of heat stroke. All we wanted was a 2nd fan. He suggested he couldn't get one & we should buy one. Our last day, my daughter toured the catacombs, unfortunately she took the apartment key with her & it was a 1-1/2 hour tour, 30 minutes away. My son & I were locked out. It was 5pm & raining. The instruction book left for us said if locked out we'd have to pay for re-entry, which we were willing to do. Juan said he didn't have another key. I suggested that housekeepers probably had a key. He advised yes, but they finished at 4pm. Period. A bit later, he advised that his spare key was IN THE APARTMENT!. No one told us there was a hidden 2nd key. My family is in the property management business in the USA & we would be fired by our clients if we performed this poorly. We were faint & nauseous from heat, very tired & spent 2 unnecessary hours in a restaurant waiting for my daughter's return. Juan, the worst property manager on the planet, was probably comfortably home in his AC. At age 79, I was trying to avoid heat stroke. I understand the heat wave wasn't his doing but one fan & a 2nd key would have been extremely appreciated & made for a positive review. As it is, I warn anyone who has to deal with this company (he says they manage 1000's of units), don't expect any help from Juan or Joie Management. The worst!
