About Tom Watkins
I am a writer working in New York.
Tom Watkins purchased this Apartment in 1982
Why Tom Watkins chose Manhattan
Because it is in a great location near many of the city's attractions -- steps off Fifth Avenue between Flatiron, just to the south; Murray Hill, a block to the east; and Midtown, whose southern tip begins four blocks to the north. It's in the center of the Persian rug district, two blocks south of Korea Town and four blocks north of Madison Square Park.
What makes this Apartment unique
A clean, quiet, calm, orderly and safe place of refuge that is within walking distance of many of New York's attractions.

Great place in a great location
This was a girls trip for my daughters 18th birthday and we really enjoyed our stay here. It was close to broadway and easy to get to the subway stations to get the other tourist sites. What also was nice was the place was just enough out of the way that the streets were not overly busy or noisy at night. We felt safe no matter what time of the day we were moving around. I would definitely recommend this VRBO and we would definitely stay here again.
We had a great time!
Perfect spot. Incredible location. Clean. Well kept. I will come again. Thank you!
Cute place, not for everyone though!
This would be a cute spot to stay for some but not for everyone! There are 60 stairs to unit, the unit didnt have working radiator heat when I stayed. So the owner brought in a space heater, but you cant leave a space heater plugged in all day while out of the apartment. When returning to unit at night the space heater took about 4 to 5 hours to heat apartment. At any rate that's why I requested an early check out. I also stained the pillows cases on my side of bed. Because I sweat at night and I have purple hair. I did bring an old towel for that on my trip but that night I forgot to put old towel over pillow case. I did stain the pillow and let the owner know. The owner removed those pillows from the bed and the pillow cases, so he could bleach the stain out. I guess the stain did come out but we were only left with 2 pillows instead of the 4 we started with. I would recommend if you sweat and have color that bleeds definitely bring an old towel to sleep on and use it. Then you wont have the problems I did.
I thank my guests for their comments and apologize for the lack of heat that they encountered.
I arrived within an hour of receiving their complaint and replaced the radiator valve, which had proven to be the culprit in the past, but that did not fix the problem.
Given the guests' concern over the length of time it was taking the electric heater to warm up the apartment, I gave them a refund; a heating specialist arrived later in the day and fixed the problem.
I did remove the Frette pillowcases, one of which had purple hair dye on it, to wash and bleach them so that the stains did not set. I'm sorry the guests did not see the other pillows and pillowcases that were in the closet next to the bed and that I had noted in the material I sent them prior to their arrival.
Their warning to prospective guests is a fair one: the apartment is not appropriate for anyone uncomfortable with the prospect of having to trudge up and down 60 stairs.
Nice place, great location
