Relaxing Spring Break @ The Cottage
Cottage was welcoming and warm. Great deck. Everything you are looking for in a high country cottage. Highly recommend, Sara was very helpful and with good recommendations. Not large, but very cute, comfortable and well laid out. Got some spring skiing on Sugar Mountain before it closes for the season. Even saw a bear and some deer on the property, pretty cool. Location was perfect. Walked the hilly neighborhood everyday. Great trails everywhere. Spent time at Grandfather Mountain, Glowing Rock, Boone, and Banner Elk. Also recommend the Wilderness Run alpine coaster and Syvalley Zipline in Blowing Rock that has new all electric ATV's. Great restaurants everywhere, especially the local ones. We spent the afternoon at Booneshine Brewery with live music on the beer garden lawn for St. Patrick's Day weekend.

Adorable mountain house in view of the ski slopes
This was a perfect house for us! Two queen beds, and two twins, +2 full bathrooms, made it comfortable for four people. The kitchen was well stocked, and the place is decorated in a cute style. The porch was great, and we were able to sit on the rocking chairs in the sun. The driveway is extremely steep, so please do follow the guidelines about four-wheel-drive if there is going to be weather. The Internet was a little spotty at times, but spectrum was able to fix it pretty quickly. We will definitely be back!

Great home and great location
Home and property were perfect. Modern and maintained but very warm and cozy. Very responsive and accommodating hosts. Great location near the slopes. Home was clean and had a lot of extra items that we needed but didn’t want to purchase to use one time. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly!

About the host

We're a young family of four who love the outdoors. Our story began in the mountains at nearby Appalachian State and we come back as much as possible. My wife and I spent a lot of time on the yellow chair lift at Sugar (now a high-speed quad - those 30 minute chair lift rides are thankfully a thing of the past!) while competing on the university's snowboard team. In fact, if you go by Extreme at the bottom of the mountain, tell them you're staying at the house of someone who helped win the trophy they keep behind the front desk. They refer to it as a "beer league" trophy. I say it's a major award. It's been incredibly rewarding to see our kids gain confidence on the slopes and develop an appreciation for the mountains we fell in love with.

When we're not in the mountains, we're at the beach. Tough life right? We call Charleston, SC home and are incredibly fortunate to enjoy two places the way we do. I sincerely hope that your time at our Cool Breeze Cottage refreshes you, instills in you a sense of simplicity, and leaves you excited about your next life adventure. Enjoy!

Why they chose this property

Why this property? Skiing/snowboarding, Appalachian State, Boone, hiking, fishing, gem mining, mountain biking, PEACE AND QUIET, local breweries, and taking time to slow down and enjoy each other's company. Did I mention we live in Charleston, SC? When the heat index is 110 in the Lowcountry, that average August high in the mid 70s at Sugar Mountain sounds pretty sweet.
