On a beautiful 2,000 acre farm, in one of New Zealand’s most spectacular locations, this cosy rustic bach offers absolute privacy amidst the trees and paddocks of this peaceful farm. The front veranda looks out through trees over lush grassed paddocks to Lake Okareka.
The farm is situated on the shores of Lake Okareka and between Lake Tarawera and the Blue and Green Lakes with magnificent views from the top country that take in eight lakes and various mountains. Mostly rolling hills with some steeper areas and 400 acres of native bush it is a paradise for walking, hiking, mountain biking and horse riding. (Note: some parts of the farm are not accessible from time to time). There are public walkways around Lake Okareka, the Blue Lake, part of Lake Tarawera and the forests in the area.
The house comprises of a large open plan living/dining/kitchen area with a log burner fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped. There is a bathroom with a shower and moonlight bath and five bedrooms. The covered veranda has an excellent Weber gas BBQ and ample seating for outdoor entertaining. The expansive front lawn offers further outdoor furniture and there is a charming outside bath overlooking the paddocks down to the lake.
The property has easy access and plenty of parking for cars and boats. There is a jetty and boat ramp at Lake Okareka, 3 minutes away. Take your runabout to swim, water ski or picnic on the lake or at Sandy Beach and fish for trout (trolling, harling or jigging) around the lake edge.
Longfords Farm is only a 5 minute drive to water skiing and walks at the Blue and Green Lakes, 8 minutes to the historical wonders of the Buried Village, 10 minutes to the trophy trout in Lake Tarawera, 15 minutes to the natural geothermal wonders around Rotorua.
