Lovely peaceful spot
Lovely friendly hosts
It was a pleasure to host this couple. We enjoy meeting them and having a chat. We would welcome them back again anytime
Had a very relaxing time, gorgeous bay, heaps of bird song
Lovely and friendly hosts..had a really lovely relaxing time..
Only downside is that I could not recommend the cabin for anyone with a mobility issue as there were no ramps and the bathroom is a considerable distance from the cabin, up steps and across a long gravelly driveway. Unfortunately I don't recall the seperate bathroom facilities being mentioned in their bio.
Still had a great time though.
Loved our stay in this modern, clean, well equipped cabin.
The owners are friendly and welcoming and very patient with our fishing and boating questions. The whole setting is as beautiful as a picture and we are really looking forward to a longer stay this coming March. Highly recommended ! ! 🙂👍
Great location and friendly hosts!
We stayed 4 days at Mahau Sound and loved every day!! The location was perfect for the many things to do in the area. The hosts were friendly and helpful with great local advice on dining and the Pelorus Mail Run. Don’t miss out if you have a chance to stay here in the future.
We had a lovely time, beautiful relaxing setting.
We had a lovely time, beautiful relaxing setting. Peeling oysters off the rocks was a highlight as were the sunsets.
We found it impossible to keep windows open at night as per owners preference as we were eaten alive by mozzies. Bug nets would assist here and the mattress needs replacing. We really enjoyed the use of the kayaks although we did find the price a little steep. Otherwise, what a wonderful quiet, pretty piece of paradise anyone would fall in love with. :-)
Thank you for your feedback. As we mentioned, we have insect screens ready to be fitted over the winter break. There is a local kayak company (nzseakayaking.com) who offer a very good service for kayak or mountain bike hire and tours on the Queen Charlotte Track. Also available is the Pelorus mailboat (themailboat.co.nz). We are happy to book these services for guests. Alternatively for more casual use we have 2 stable sit-on fishing kayaks at only $30 per day pp and the rowboat at no charge.
Great views of the Sound.
