Why anthen70 chose Ohakune
Having been interested in the Mountains enjoying both skiing and tramping since the mid 70"s, I was excited when an opportunity to have our very own Ski Bach presented during the winter of 2015. Learning to ski on Mount Taranaki (or Mt Egmont as it was known then) l had skied Whakapapa many time in the early days. I also skied around on the Ohakune side when there was only a re only rope tow. You used "Nut Crackers" to grip the rope and get hauled perilously up the slope. This was years before Turoa became a commercial ski field. It was fantastic to have our own place to get away for skiing in winter and the quite rural mountain life in summer. The year after we purchased, the Highnoon six seater chair lift was built on Turoa and we have not looked back! Always relaxing. Kune Bach is our home away from home. Just love it!
What makes this Cottage unique
Quite location close to the Junction night life. An easy 4 min walk to Powderhorn Bar, Restaurants and Cafes. Only 5 or 6 min walk to the Turoa Ski Shuttle. A perfect Bach for your ski holiday being a comfortable size in a great location with 3 bedrooms and toastie warm with the heated floor tiles and an amazing wood fire.

Very cosy and warm and close to the mountain road
We enjoyed the very cosy and warm bach. It was great as a base to jump from for skiing in Turoa and the children loved being able to watch trains from the garden. Books on the history of Ruapehu were enjoyed by all. Thanks
Ideal cosy Bach for skiing.
Myself and 5 friends stayed at this bach and it served its purpose perfectly for us, ideal location and a great log burner to keep you warm. Also the price was very reasonable.
Would recommend to anyone.

Harley was an excellent guest to have stay. Very good communication and the Bach was left neat and tidy, thank you. I can recommend him to other Bach Owners. Recommended Guests.
Good value for money cottage, great location not too far from town and right next to the mountain road. Freight trains during the night not a problem once we got used to them. Easy to heat quickly and plenty of hot water. Heaps to do in the wider area outside the ski season with active kids, and recommend the local mountain biking, walks and flyfishing. Rock climbing center in Ohakune a big plus and the visitor center staff very helpful.
Rod was an excellent guest to have stay. Very good communication and the Bach was left neat and tidy. Recommended Guests.
Kune Batch was a perfect fit for the needs of our team. The place worked out really well for the duration of our project and really was a home away. Thanks Tony & Anne.
Deon was great to deal with excellent communication. Kune Bach was left very neat and tidy. Thank you. Recommended Guests who are welcome back any time.
Exactly what we needed
This was the perfect base for our family's summer holiday. We loved that we were backing onto the rail station as our youngest has a fascination with all things train!. The sounds of the trains did not disturb us in any way while we were here. The house is fully equiped with everything you need on a regular day however if you are keen to try the local food scene it is just around the corner.
Keep an eye out for the local wild life, we had fun rabbit spotting while we stayed.
Thanks heaps Tony and Anne for allowing us your place for the week.
Lovely family to have stay at Kune Bach. Excellent communication and great to deal with. Our Bach was left neat and tidy, thank you. Welcome back any time. I can recommend these guests.
Mount Ruapehu is a World Heritage Park for its natural features and is also a New Zealand National Park.
Ohakune at the base of Turoa Ski Area is the largest town serving the Mountain and it's 2 Ski fields. Whakapapa Ski Area is just 45 minutes away. They are New Zealand's 2 biggest ski fields.
