Waverley Beach is a piece of ruggered, untouched New Zealand Coastline. Its black iron sand is natural to the area. It is a place where many locals have come to holiday for years with families and friends. It is tranquil, natural, and a great place to really get away from it all.
Paua Cottage has become our families holiday home and we would like to share it with you. Whether you are a couple looking for a place to hide, or a family looking for surf and a no fuss holiday, Waverley Beach is a place to come and relax and forget about the day.
The Coast is made up of two beaches. Cave Beach is sheltered in a cove and ideal for swimming or surf casting. When the tide is out you can follow the coast and explore the caves which have tunnelled their way into the cliffs. Long Beach is the main beach directly across the road from the cottage via the walkway. There is boat access to the beach, and there is plenty of room to launch your Contiki. Also safe for swimming, boogie boarding, or walking your dog.
Just a 30 minute drive from Wanganui or 90 minutes from Palmerston North or New Plymouth, Waverley Beach is 9km from the main road on SH3. The community is made up of 40 baches, many still original. There is an excellent well stocked 4 Square in the town centre, but it pays to take your bread and milk with you.
Paua Cottage will comfortably sleep up to 7. The main cottage consists of two bedrooms, and the sleepout at the rear of the garage provides another room. The property is fully fenced so we are happy if you wish to bring your dog but we ask that pets do remain outside. The kitchen opens out to a large deck for bbq's or breakfast in the sun.
Paua Cottage simply offers a comfortable, cosy, holiday by the sea. Enjoy!
