It was built following WW1 using original kauri timber salvaged from the historic 1880 military barracks on nearby Taiaroa Head.

Activities: The Orokanui Sanctuary which now houses the Kiwi among other rare indigenous species is very closely located on the coast within a five to ten minute drive. Direct access to the excellent swimming beach one minute away. Wonderful scenic coastal walks and drives. The famous peninsula wildlife - Royal Albatross, Yellow Eyed Penguins, seals and sea lions, plus Larnach's castle are within a day's activity.
Beds and bedding are excellent quality.
Beautifully restored bathroom with separate shower, Victorian cowled bath and antique copper cystern toilet.
Separate toilet washroom also.
Spacious paneled lounge with log burner. Antique furnishings and lighting.
Kitchen dining area overlooks the gardens and beach. It has restored kauri floors with antique cottage furniture and Jotul Norwegian logburner.
The price quoted is for two adults only. Additional adults are $40 per night and children are $20 per night.
50% deposit required to confirm booking with the balance payable 7 days prior to occupation.
Cancellation will mean 50% of the total stay fee will be forfeited.
A credit card number may be required to cover any damage incurred during stay.
