Why haggis1 chose Kingston
We live in this property part time throughout every month of the year ourselves, so it is not a 'holiday home'. Million dollar views every day and in all weathers. It's location is so close to the world famous, ever growing and bustling Queenstown but this property and Kingston offers a real sense of beauty, space, privacy, tranquility and a 'community' that cares.

We are a couple from Helsinki, Finland and stayed 3 nights in this wonderful Kingston house. We made a day trip to Doubtful Sound, and drove to Manapouri back and forth. It was such an amazing trip. Other we enjoyed the beautiful lake Wakatipu and took a short walks in the neighborhood. Thank you for a lovely place!
Clean, quiet and private. Good communication with us when weather turned wild and power was lost.
Perfect place for summer relaxation
We decided the hustle and bustle of Queenstown wasn’t for us - rather just for a daytime visit - and this awesome character bach was everything we hoped for and more. A tranquil setting by the lake with the ultimate indoor-outdoor flow. Old day charm combined with the mod cons we rely on these days. Loved it!!!
Cozy Cottage in a Quaint Town
We specifically picked this cottage in Kingston so that we could enjoy Queenstown and the surrounding areas by day and escape to the quiet of Kingston by night. This cottage did not disappoint. We drove in from Queenstown and the scenery is breathtaking. When you arrive at the cottage, you are right at the southernmost part of lake Wakatipu and surrounded by all the glorious mountains. The grounds are carefully maintained and the cottage is tastefully decorated and the master bed is so comfortable. If you are blessed with warmer temperatures, opening the glass doors onto the deck extends the cottage to the outdoors with stunning views of the lake and mountains. I love to cook and found everything I needed to make proper meals. It was unseasonably cold when we were there so had to make use of the fireplace. I would highly recommend this property and the Mark was very responsive to all my questions and offered interesting things to do and places to go during our stay. While you are in Kingston, make a point of stopping in to the two cafes in town. The Kingston Flyer is a converted train station - very quaint with good food and friendly staff.
Thanks Laura, so glad we ( and our property) were able to halo make your trip so memorable !
Beautifully restored and maintained Bach ❤️
The owners have down the most beautiful job of maintaining this unique property in an amazing setting. The decor is relaxed and welcoming and the collection of curios and books is fantastic . The garden around the property is also beautifully maintained. We definitely would have stayed longer if we knew how much this property suited us.
Even though the wind blew like a banshee on occasion you could curl up with a book in front of a lovely fire and at times be distracted by the changing lake and mountain scenery.
Mark contacted us during our stay to check on us to ensure all was ok. Definitely one of our favourite places in NZ
